king ubu Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 so I got my own ubupod today (30GB, for free, higher entities commanded... I had no influence - not without reason I'm called the humblest king on earth... ) Now: is there a way to copy MP2 files onto that thingie? Tells me it wouldn't work without giving a reason. I re-installed the latest version of iTunes before, so that can't be the reason. Is there a plugin or something similar I can install to make MP2 files run? And if so, where can I get that? Oh, and I'm on Windows, I assume that does make a difference... Thanks for any help! Quote
rockefeller center Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 I don't have an iPod or ubuPod so I don't know what I'm talking about. Audio formats supported: AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF and WAV http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html Quote
king ubu Posted December 20, 2006 Author Report Posted December 20, 2006 That suggests it just won't work Too bad that fm stations have their digi-streams in MP2 format, then! Thanks for finding that! Can anyone confirm it won't work at all? Or is there any way around it? Quote
rockefeller center Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Or is there any way around it? Transcode your files. http://www.freeware-base.de/freeware-zeige...ils-10963-.html for instance. Quote
king ubu Posted December 20, 2006 Author Report Posted December 20, 2006 Yes, I know I can do that, but that takes quite a bit of time... Quote
rockefeller center Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Well, leave your computer turned on over night(s) and let it transcode. Quote
king ubu Posted December 20, 2006 Author Report Posted December 20, 2006 Sure, smartass... Only my notebook might fry me and the whole house... but maybe you can come by with your SR-71, transcode the files and then fly the back again? Quote
rockefeller center Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 (edited) Sure, smartass... Thanks for the compliment. Only my notebook might fry me and the whole house... Hang up a shopping bag filled with sand above your notebook. That way, when your notebook starts burning, the bag melts and the sand extinguishes the fire. You better find another excuse for not wanting to transcode. but maybe you can come by with your SR-71, transcode the files and then fly the back again? Good idea. And on my way back I could stop by at Federer's place in Basel because I'm looking for a sparring partner anyway. Edited December 20, 2006 by rockefeller center Quote
king ubu Posted December 20, 2006 Author Report Posted December 20, 2006 you know, myself being such a sorry-assed lazy fat king, smartass is indeed quite a compliment! Quote
couw Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 this lazy ass once had a pretty fast transcoding ditty around but it's gone now after the machine exploded and was hidden in a pile of sand. Quote
rockefeller center Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Ahhh, fellow smart ass couw. Quote
king ubu Posted December 21, 2006 Author Report Posted December 21, 2006 Found there's a conversion thing in iTunes - I add the MP2s to the iTunes library then go right click, convert, and the resulting files are exportable. No idea what kind of conversion is done, but at least I can play the files not on my computer only and decide if I need audio discs of them or not. Quote
