Dmitry Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 This is a damn shame. I've communicated with Steve from time to time through PMs and knew he had persistent brain tumors, but I was under the impression things were getting better. Guess I was wrong. I think Steve was a professor either in Chicago or Michigan.. Quote
jazzbo Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I'm beginning to know the type of courage he had and some of what he has been through. I salute his strength and his spirit. Sad news, and my best to his family and friends. Quote
paul secor Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Terrible news. I only knew him from his posts, and didn't know he was ill. His posts always gave me the sense that he was a true gentleman. Condolences to his family. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Wow. This is sad news, and I can only echo other members' sentiments. I always enjoyed reading his thoughts, though never spoke with him on a personal level. Obviously a strong soldier. May he rest in peace. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 RIP. Thanks for letting us know the sad news, Chuck. Quote
Dave James Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 What can you say? Of course I didn't know Steve in a personal sense and, like others, I really only recall him from his sobriquet, SEK. Nonetheless, reading through other's recollections and the personal interactions they had with him, it's clear he was a good and caring man. The world is certainly a lesser place when folks like this are called away. Thanks for letting us know, Chuck. Up over and out. Quote
sal Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I'm saddened by this news. Best wishes to his loved ones. Quote

Big Al Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 This is indeed sad. Just like losing a family member. Actually, I guess it is losing a family member. Do you realize it's been almost one year to the day since he last posted? And he only had 722 posts to his name. It says a lot about him that he was able to post so little and yet affect so many. Thanks for sharing the news, Chuck. RIP Steve. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I had no idea he was ill, so this is a shock. Sad day. Quote

Hardbopjazz Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 RIP Steve. What else is there to say to such terrible news. Quote
Soul Stream Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I was just looking at the threads he posted on and realized that roughly half were Happy Birthday threads he contributed to. That says a lot about the man right there. Nice guy, who will be missed. Sad to hear the news. Goodbye SEK. Quote
