Jim Alfredson Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 Up, 'cos this shit is bad! Noj, expect some stuff in the next couple of weeks. Quote
Leeway Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 Nice stuff! Use of color, form, mass, expression-- pulls the viewer right in. I especially liked the Wes Montgomery and Sose. Most of all, there is true individual style, and that's the hard part. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 (edited) Man, I saw only the first paintings. Missed all the good stuff on page 2. Awesome stuff! Wouldn't be surprised if these go for big bucks down the road. Sure hope the second Organissimo cd uses Noj's artwork. Wow!! I like all three Organissimo suggestions, but for some reason, I prefer the last of the three showing the hand on the keyboard. Conveys a sense of gravitas. Really like the spare yet dynamic picture of the hummingbird. Excellent! Edited November 10, 2004 by connoisseur series500 Quote
Noj Posted November 10, 2004 Author Report Posted November 10, 2004 Wow, thanks Leeway. I've been real short on inspiration lately, I appreciate it. Quote

sidewinder Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Great stuff, Noj ! I've only just seen these. The CD cover should be a blast ! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Yeah, he just sent me a PM with an outline of what he's working on, and it sounds really fun! I'm excited!!!! Quote
Noj Posted April 6, 2005 Author Report Posted April 6, 2005 Thanks sidewinder! As my first forray into professional design/illustrating, I'm hoping to step it up a notch or two. B-) Quote
AfricaBrass Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 I really like your work, Noj. I'm looking forward to seeing what you're working on. Quote

BruceW Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 Noj Wow man, I just bumped into this portion of the Organissimo stuff and your paintings are great. I especially like Milt Jackson and Kaiser Sose. Milt is the greatest and Sose from Usual Suspects is very ingenious of your to do. I take it you like great mystery movies. My problem is that I am still on 56K and need a faster format. We expect to get back into our new home (burned out in San Bernardino fires 2003) by August this year and then I can convert my system. Please stay in touch, I can visualize commissioning you to do a painting of me at my vibes probably next year when we have everything settled. In the mean time I will still be riding you guys about the Pistons. peace, Bruce Quote
Noj Posted June 9, 2005 Author Report Posted June 9, 2005 Thanks for the praise, Bruce. I'll be sure to give you the special Pistons' fan rate for that painting! Sorry to read about your house, that must be tough. Currently, I am knee deep in painting a portrait of my friend and his fiancee for their wedding. I'll post some pics of it once it's done. Quote
GA Russell Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 Noj, I've just clicked on this thread for the first time. Great work! I can see how your style would be very effective for CD covers. Quote
Noj Posted June 9, 2005 Author Report Posted June 9, 2005 Thanks a lot, GA Russell! I've got a friend that works at EMI, I'm hoping to make a contact over in the art department and get some freelance work using the new organissimo album as a portfolio piece! Quote
gslade Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 Noj, I just saw this thread and wanted to say keep up the Fantastic work, looking forward to seeing more! Quote
Noj Posted July 3, 2005 Author Report Posted July 3, 2005 Here's a portion of the portrait I did of my good friend and his wife. The painting itself is too large for my scanner, but this is the most important part of the composition. I still have the painting because someone knocked it off the stand at the reception and savaged the edges, which I'm going to repair. Quote

patricia Posted July 4, 2005 Report Posted July 4, 2005 Very nice work, Noj. I've always found that putting my "babies" out there is the hardest part. Good for you. Quote
Noj Posted July 4, 2005 Author Report Posted July 4, 2005 (edited) Thanks Patricia! Do you paint too? Use3D - I'm definitely a big fan of Primus! Edited July 14, 2005 by Noj Quote
