Late Posted June 13, 2021 Report Posted June 13, 2021 You have to wonder — what was the imperative for making new cover art? Quote
Harbour Posted June 23, 2021 Report Posted June 23, 2021 There’s an interesting interview with Ravi Coltrane in the new Mojo where he talks about this release and also that there are tons more recordings still in the archive and the next thing to come out this autumn is another John Coltrane Quartet live album recorded in 1965 the same week as Live in Seattle! kh1958 Posted July 17, 2021 Report Posted July 17, 2021 Listening to Turiya Sings, as Ravi Coltrane explains in the notes, this is not the same as the cassette release. This is simply the raw tape of Alice Coltrane on Wurlitzer organ and vocals, without the additions/orchestrations which were on the original release.. Quote
JSngry Posted July 17, 2021 Report Posted July 17, 2021 oh...that's good to know, then. not looking for a duplication! Quote

I wonder where the date was — still the Penthouse? I also wonder if it's this broadcast: Even if it is, I'd still go for an authorized version. Quote

Mainly for this interview, but also for the article on the 50th of Sticky Fingers (this and Exile on Main Street and also Beggars Banquet are the Stones' favorite for me) and the cover feature, Amy Winehouse. Pim Posted October 31, 2021 Report Posted October 31, 2021 Has this been posted before? Fantastic footage! Quote
Late Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 Dig Alice's Jaguar! (Is that Ravi in the back seat?) Quote

clifford_thornton Posted February 9, 2024 Report Posted February 9, 2024 Wonderful news! Definitely read about this concert before and have long been curious. Quote
mjazzg Posted February 9, 2024 Report Posted February 9, 2024 That's great news, instant purchase. I just read this which suggests there may be more releases to come, hope so "in 2024 they’ve partnered with The John & Alice Coltrane Home to launch the “Year of Alice;” described as a “year-long celebration of Alice Coltrane’s profound work.” They’re kicking things off with Alice Coltrane – The Carnegie Hall Concert Quote
JSngry Posted February 9, 2024 Report Posted February 9, 2024 Not too long ago, this bootleg got released, very light on content! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnegie_Hall_'71 Quote

T.D. Posted February 9, 2024 Report Posted February 9, 2024 Me too, subject to minimal due diligence / research. 😉 Quote
felser Posted February 10, 2024 Report Posted February 10, 2024 I've heard the "Africa" cut, and it's fantastic IIRC. I'm in for the CD set, and so glad it's getting released. Quote
Pim Posted February 10, 2024 Report Posted February 10, 2024 Nice. Definitely interested and glad I did not go for the bootleg. I never but bootlegs and hardly own an unauthorized release but must admit I fell for the Alice Coltrane Berkeley Community Theatre release and ordere a copy from fnac.fr. I have a feeling they are not going to deliver as planned shipping time is somewhere in april... and it's not in print. Its an amazing record that deserves an official release. Quote
colinmce Posted February 10, 2024 Report Posted February 10, 2024 I hope they do do an official release of the Berkeley concert, it's fantastic. Quote
