Son-of-a-Weizen Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 Are these cds duds ....or worth purchasing? Quote
brownie Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 They're the real thing! I am very happy with those (Jimmy Deuchar, Ian Hammer, Tubby Hayes, etc...) I have. I am planning to get more... Quote
king ubu Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 I picked up the Ian Hamer 2CD set from Lon (he had a duplicate) and I'm very happy with that one! The Tubby Hayes are on the loooooong wishlist. No need to worry, if all are such nice packages as that Hamer! Quote
Philip Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Needle drops I'm afraid, but the original tapes are not believed to survive. Quote
king ubu Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 What are you talking about? Jasmine in general? Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Hey folks, that's globalization! What do you expect in today's world? It seems like there is a bunch of U.K. reissue labels out there who have long since abandoned donning and flying the Union Jack in what they're doing in their day-to-day business (like others in other countries too, I guess). Is Jasmine affiliated with or part of Interstate Music Ltd? The Interstate reissue labels such as Krazy Kat, Country Routes (and Harlequin) have featured the mention "Made in the Czech Republic" for quite some time now. Printing quality of the booklets and sound quality of the CD's is as good as it can possibly be when you reissue stuff from old 78s or acetates that sometimes survive in deplorable condition only and where definitely no master tapes exist anymore. So quality seems to be OK and the Czech connection is for cost cutting only. Quote
