Bird w/ the Herd- HOW DOES IT RATE, TO, SAY, CP+ORCH IN D.C?

Recommended Posts

Chewy, the Alamac issue of Bird with the Herd takes up two sides, the issue you picked up is likely short half the titles.

The Mainman release contains eight titles recorded in Kansas City, August 1951. The Alamac has a ninth - a second version of "Leo the Lion". It is known that they also played in St. Louis. The additional title may be from the St. Louis concert.

Btw, the Mainman also contains three fine tracks by Clifford Brown & Max Roach.

one Asians, one cripple, and one Jew go into a bar -

the bartender says to 'em, "what does this look like, a Safeway?"

the Assian says, "sorry, I was having a flashback to 'Nam - INCOMING!

the cripple says, "that's how I got this way."

the Jew says "well, I had a deferment to attend the Yeshiva."

the bartender says, "what's the punch line?"

I've got a cd of it from "Drive Archive". Nine cuts and according to the liner notes the 2nd version of Leo the Lion is from the same night. Bird supposedly wasn't happy with his playing the first time and asked to try it again later.
