Stefan Wood Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 (edited) I am moving into a condo and I went ahead and bought a high end wall outlet for my stereo system. This is the place that I got it from: http://www.acmeaudiolabs.com/ I will report back after I receive it and the break-in period. I am curious if anyone else has done this for their systems? mgraham333 Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 I would think that something from this page would be useful. Reference PowerCenterâ„¢ HTS 2000 with Clean Powerâ„¢ Stage 2 (or the 1000 series) might be worth a shot What do the specialty wall outlets claim to do? Quote
SEK Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 A friend a mine got some cryogenicly-treated outlets and has been very excited by them. I don't hear a difference, and there's no reputable science behind it. But our friendship is more important than bursting the bubble of a chronic tweakophile. That friend and I also own Monster HTS 2000's. These did make a discernable difference in the noise floor of his system, less in mine. He lives close to a school, and I live several blocks away. I actually get a larger improvement from it in the video signal from my cable. So, as they often say, YMMV. Quote

mgraham333 Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 I wonder if I installed one of these in the kitchen whether my toast would taste better in the mornings. Quote
Stefan Wood Posted August 21, 2003 Author Report Posted August 21, 2003 Naw, you need a line conditioner for that!! Quote
wolff Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 I say, try before you buy. Let your own ears decide. When I replaced my $1.95 duplex with a $13.95 hospital grade one I got a very black and quiet background. It 's like high frequency hash disapearing. Quote
RDK Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 The power seems pretty clean in my area, though I do detect some additional graininess whenever some power company employee turns on the microwave oven in the employee break room... Quote
Stefan Wood Posted August 28, 2003 Author Report Posted August 28, 2003 Well, now that I have moved in, it's so far so good for the outlet. It definitely provides a more distinct and clear picture on the tv. I won't comment on the sound yet because I am moving furniture around and the sound is stil bouncing all over the place. But it isn't a bunch of hokum... yet. Quote
