Guy Berger
I thought this was an interesting list. Obviously this doesn't take into account some torrents which have vanished and then been re-seeded. 1. {THE RISKY SINATRA TORRENT!} Frank Sinatra w/Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Avalon Ballroom, San Francisco, CA 1940?? FLAC (1422 times) 2. John Coltrane/Stan Getz JATP Tour 1960 Dusseldorf prob SBD (1287 times) 3. MILES DAVIS - 12 April 1970, Fillmore West *SBD* (1214 times) 4. Mahavishnu Orchestra 1972/08/20 Montreux (1119 times) 5. Jimi Hendrix & Larry Young, Record Plant Sessions, NYC 1969 (1071 times) 6. Rooster_Ties
That's the top 6. You got more?? I'd be interested in seeing the top 20, or top 25 (or even top 50). (I've never done a torrent download, so I ain't fishin' for material -- just currious about what other people are wantin'/listenin' too.) Guy Berger
I'm too lazy to sort through the list, RT. However, from my recollection the most popular jazz torrents tend to be (electric) Miles. Guy

relyles
I think generally you will find that the jazz torrents that tend to generate the most interest are from the historically significant artists (Miles Davis probably more than any other), Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, etc. There is actually a wide variety of stuff that gets uploaded, but I suspect the things that gain the most interest also appear to those members who are not necessarily hard core jazz heads. RDK
jazz torrents = bootleg???? The preferred term is "rare, unreleased recording."
Rooster_Ties
...or, in the case of Pink Floyd material... ROIO = Recording of Indeterminate Origin
Matthew
3. Simon and Garfunkel - 2003-12-20 SBD 4,498 Simon and Garfunkel??!!?? What-the-heck.
Guy Berger
jazz torrents = bootleg???? In this case, yes, but the two terms aren't equivalent. A torrent is a specific, relatively efficient way of downloading internet files. Guy
