Free For All Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 After near record highs on Tuesday, by contrast yesterday and today have been lousy. Big rain-to-sleet-to-ice event yesterday, and now the snow is really coming down. Looks like it's heading out Organissimo way tonight. I got some groceries (including libations), gloves and a snow shovel and am now going to hunker down for the duration. The good news is that my new chair (with matching ottoman) was delivered yesterday! A nice reward after spending two hours getting teeth drilled at the dentist's. Also my Ray Charles Atlantic box came today. I'm ready for the storm, bring it on! Our local weather guy gets so excited about severe weather, I'd swear he's "sporting wood" on air. Seriously, I hope everyone is safe through this nasty weather. Looks like many are going to get a taste of it. Quote
sal Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Chicago is in for a foot of snow and 40mph wind gusts. Not looking forward to it. At least our offices will probably shut down! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 'Supposed to get quite the deluge of snow between tonight and tomorrow. Zora will love it. She's been complaining about no snow lately. Quote
Aggie87 Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Libations and a great chair, looks like you're ready for some live chat, Free!! Quote
Guy Berger Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 That is a sweet chair, free! Guy Quote
montg Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 We're looking at a foot of snow beginning at midnight tonight in central Illinois. I need to get some batteries in case the power lines get knocked out. I may be sitting in a dark house listening to some warm jazz on the low fi cd player and watching the snow fall. Quote
kulu se mama Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Our local weather guy gets so excited about severe weather, I'd swear he's "sporting wood" on air. we have one of those too. at least they love their jobs. not much snow expected here, but it should pour on the bengals / ravens game. that's not good for the home team. jazzbo Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Supposed to be the coldest night ever this year tonight. If we get sleet it's going to shut down half the city. (They're wimps here with ice.) Bring it on! Quote
Jazzmoose Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Well, it's damned cold here, but the "sleet, ice and possible snow" turned into a light, thirty minute shower. No complaints here; I'll ride my Kawi in rain, but snow and ice are a bit out of my league... Quote
Joe G Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Pretty nasty here this morning. Had to chip a coat of ice off the car before I could go to work. Broke my driver's side mirror in the process. Quote
.:.impossible Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 "sporting wood" That is just a fantastic phrase that seems to have gone out of favor in recent years. Thanks for bringing this back into memory. Quote
Aggie87 Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 (edited) Pretty nasty here this morning. Had to chip a coat of ice off the car before I could go to work. Broke my driver's side mirror in the process. Gotta be more careful next time, Joe. Edited December 1, 2006 by Aggie87 Quote
jazzypaul Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Chicago's been hit pretty hard, as I'm sure you've heard. Took me just under two hours to go 18 miles to get to work. I'm one of 25 people that have to be here today out of a work force of over a thousand. Quote
Uncle Skid Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Pretty nasty here this morning. Had to chip a coat of ice off the car before I could go to work. Broke my driver's side mirror in the process. Hey... I thought you were riding your bike to work, even in the winter!! Not today, huh? Quote
Miles251 Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 From 65 degrees on Tuesday to 29 degrees and sleet/ice on Wednesday. I've been nipping for two days. Free....Great chair dude! Great chair means a happy ass! Quote
montg Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 I'm taking a break from shoveling 12 inches of snow out of a 20 yard driveway. Good exercise, I guess. Days like these make me miss my days in Gainesville FL. Quote
