JSngry Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Here's the one I use: http://www.wunderground.com/ You can customize it for your (or any) zip code )or any country). Animated, zoomable NEXRAD radar loops, extrememly localized readings, forecasts, bulletins, etc. For $10 a year, you can make the ads go away too. The only thing missing is live radar, but the loops are updated every 5-6 minutes. Any others? Quote
.:.impossible Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Good Weather For Air Strikes Good Weather Insurance Agency (Talk about a rip-off.) Sometimes Good Weather Follows Bad People (an absolute favorite, Califone. if you are still on the fence, a friend of mine has seeded a show on etree. click below.) Don't worry. The band allows taping. This is a matrix recording, and a very nice recording at that. Unfortunately, they are touring sans Ben Massarella. Good show nonetheless. Califone Knoxville, TN 11 15 06 I digress. Quote
Uncle Skid Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 (edited) NOAA Home Page - Weather Portal Check out the "Local Forecast" (use your ZIP code) -- lots of good information there. Also, the National Weather Service Enhanced Radar Image "National Mosaic" is pretty interesting, especially using the "Loop Image" option. Edited November 30, 2006 by Uncle Skid Quote
Jazzmoose Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 NOAA Home Page - Weather Portal Yep, the NOAA is what I use. And now that Santorum can't take it away from us... Quote
.:.impossible Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Right, NOAA is a first stop. Intellicast is actually a trusted resource as well. Very customizable reports. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 (edited) Damn weather people here just revised their forcast. All yesterday, last night, and as recently as 20 minutes ago -- all the weather people here in KC were predicting as much as 12 to 24 inches of snow for THIS AFTERNOON and TONIGHT -- for most of the KC metro (with more snow the farther south and/or west of downtown you live). Well, they're all eating crow now, because -- hell, if I know why, something about colder, drier air than they were thinking -- now there's only gonna be 1 inch of snow for most of KC, and up to 2 inches in some parts farther south, and maybe 3 to 5 inches in the extreme southern area of the KC metro. WTF?? TO GO FROM ESTIMATES OF 1 TO 2 FEET OF SNOW, TO 1 OR 2 INCHES -- IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE??? I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- weather people often don't have any clue what the hell's gonna happen. We're talkin' a snow event that was less than 12 hours in the future, before they had this huge 180-degree turnaround in their forcast. Last night, as as recently as one hour ago (8am local time), the MAJOR snow event was gonna happen over the course of time from 2pm (today!!) to about Midnight (today!!). And the funny thing is next time they predict 2-4 inches, it'll just as likely be 1-2 feet instead. Edited November 30, 2006 by Rooster_Ties Quote
rockefeller center Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- weather people often don't have any clue what the hell's gonna happen. It would be a tough message if you had left out the "often". Quote
