FrancoisD Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 This must be one of the hardest to find Boland albums. My internet search has yielded practically nothing. Anyone in possession of a VG+/M copy of that item and willing to part with it? I offer up to $100 for it. Paypal payment only. Thanks in advance. Following are the varoius editions of this LP: Saba SB 15136 MPS 15136 MPS-BASF CRM 642 MPS-BASF 21 20642-3 CRYSTAL 45795 Quote

I have the SABA, it's a great 'MOR, late night listening' album, very laid back. Sorry I can't currently point you in the direction of a vinyl but if I see one I'll ping you a mail. One thing that amuses me about this LP is there are two sets of notes on the back. The set on the left is in German and looks quite scholarly and very matter-of-fact with session details etc, Boland's life story etc. The set on the right in English doesn't seem to correlate at all with the German translation - somewhat 'Un-PC' views about canoodling with the ladies and late night smooching etc. Must have been written by Austin Powers ! mikeweil Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 (edited) If you locate one, be prepared for ridiculously high prices! Edited November 29, 2006 by mikeweil Quote
sidewinder Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Another really good one in this style is the German Vogue issue in the 'Jazz Joint' series. That has Boland/Woode/Clarke with strings (plus a couple of trombones) playing mainly Boland compositions in a romantic style. Recorded in Brussells and not the usual Koln location. Damn nice ! Probably my favourite Boland album, without KCFBBB. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 This still hasn't been reissued? I am obsessed with the track "Claudia" which also appears on the MPS "Snowflakes" compilation. Does the whole album sound like this? Very similar vibe to the 1970 Les Baxter and Nelson Riddle sessions for 101 strings. You can just imagine Burt and Angie with a glass of Martini and Rossi, gazing at the sunset from the deck of their yacht. Quote

The soundof this album is very 1960s Euro-MOR, TTK - I think it would be just up your street. Even has a nice retro cover of Euro female sophisticate sipping champagne on a couch (I hesitate to say 'loveseat'). :rsmile: I don't think it's been issued on CD. clifford_thornton Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I can't imagine a later MPS or Crystal Jazz repress breaking the bank. It's usually the Saba and 1st MPS that go for money. Quote
