Durium
DURWOOD BROWN I played myself the great LP Milton Brown & The Brownies - Easy Ridin' Papa (Charly CR 30264) In 1933 Milton Brown left the Dough Boys and founded his Musical Brownies. One of the musicians was his brother Durwood who played the guitar. When I listen to the LP of Milton Brown's Brownies Bob Dunn's amplified slide guitar takes a lot of attention and I find it difficult to hear Durwood's guitar playing, that seems to have been pretty good. Can someone inform if there are other recordings of Durwood Brown so I can make myself an idea of his guitar playing? Keep swinging Durium After Milton Brown's death in 1936, Durwood took over leadership of the Brownies, and recorded 14 sides in 1937. All of them are on the Milton Brown boxed set on Texas Rose. The dominant soloist was Lefty Perkins on steel guitar, but Durwood may have a few spots.
Big Beat Steve
For additional info on this subject, check out Cary Ginell's book "Milton Brown and the Founding of Western Swing" (University of Illinois Press). It covers not only Milton Brown but also the careers of his brothers and also has a discography.

Durium
DERWOOD BROWN Since I published my contribution to start this subject some things have been cleared. Durwood should be Derwood. - sorry 'bout that - it is wrong on the Charly LP cover. ]. Derwood Brown, Gary Ginell wrote me, wasn't a very good guitar player. He gives some commend in my Keep swinging web log Keep swinging Durium
