I had sort of hoped Mosaic would combine the Herman Columbias with the Phillips for a box, but this singles release would appear to cut off that possibility. That said, all three Columbias from which this singles release is culled have been available in the recent past on cd, so I'm not bowled over by this particular selection. Now, if we could get a Select box with all the Herman Phillips recordings, that would be sweet! Quote

B. Clugston Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 I'm happy about the Herman. It will be nice to get this stuff all on one CD on Mosaic. (Collectables--I bless them for keeping this stuff in print, but don't like the packaging.) I agree, the piano album looks interesting. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 someone who used to gig w/ his big band in the 40s told me that Woody Herman was the lowest, most disreputable, horrible excuse for a person and the meanest son-of-a-bitch youve ever encountered Quote
jazzbo Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Doesn't at all sound like what I'VE heard about Woody. Quote
