Jazzmoose Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 I was trying to PM someone a bit ago to let them know I'd received their check for a CD (if you read this, you know who you are; thanks! ), and I keep getting a "mail failure" notice instead of the usual result. Anyone else having trouble, or is it just me? Quote
Joe Christmas Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 Me too. Impossible kept hounding me earlier with pop-ups but every time I tried to tell him to go shit in his hat I'd get a mail failure. Quote
Joe G Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 (edited) Me too. Impossible kept hounding me earlier with pop-ups but every time I tried to tell him to go shit in his hat I'd get a mail failure. Edit: yep, I couldn't get it to work either. Edited August 19, 2003 by Joe G Quote
Dan Gould Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 Glad to see this thread. I just got no fewer than five PM's from Dr. J., I'm sure he didn't intend to send the same thing over and over and over again. Uh, B3-er? Use? Quote
JSngry Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 I just tried to post in a thread. The first time reulted in an "unable to send e-mail" message, so I backed up and hit the post button again, thinking that perhaps I had misclicled the first time. Lo and BEhold, I was faced with a double post, one of which I've since deleted. Have no idea if this is related to the PM issue, but I've clicked the post button here often enough to pretty much know where it is ; ) , so when I got that e-mail thing, I was all like Quote
.:.impossible Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 No AL, that was me telling you to fuck off... er, go shit in your hat. Really guys, we're friends. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 19, 2003 Author Report Posted August 19, 2003 Hmmm. I just got a popup as well...told me about a little blue pill that could help my mail failure; this is getting out of hand! Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 I traded some PM's with couw earlier today, with no problems. FYI. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 19, 2003 Author Report Posted August 19, 2003 Speaking seriously for a moment, I just tried again after reading your post, RT, and I'm getting the same result. Quote

Use3D Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 This has been confirmed and will be looked into. I just tried the PM system and it was f00k3d. Quote
Use3D Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 ~NOTE TO USERS~ If when POSTING a new topic or using the PM SYSTEM, and you get the problems with the mail or another mail related failure, please do not repost/resend, most of the time the original post/PM went through the first time without a confirmation screen. B3-er and I know about this and will have it repaired in no time. Quote
king ubu Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 thanks, Use! Still (of course, what else could we expect...) doing a great job! The favorite BB around! ubu Quote
Peter Johnson Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 Hey, Jazzmoose--I got all four of your PM's! And, probably doing the same thing, Conn5000 will have about 5-10 identical PM's from me!!! Peter J Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 19, 2003 Author Report Posted August 19, 2003 Shoot, so even though I just got the same error message, I'll assume you got my reply, Use3D... Quote

Dan Gould Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 (edited) I think the board is acting up, big time. I've had trouble replying to PM's, and I've received four copies of a single message. And none of the e-mail notifications have come through either! Edited September 9, 2003 by Dan Gould Quote
catesta Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 I'm having the same problem. I got multiple copies of PM's, and I can't reply to any of them. Quote
catesta Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 If that's true, those of you that owe me answers better cough them up! Quote
catesta Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 It's not just PM's doing this. I got the same error message while starting a thread, and two got posted. Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Hey Use, Here's the error message that comes up when I try to send PMs. Mail Error! SMTP protocol failure! Host: localhost Return Code: Return Msg: Invision Power Board Error: Could not open a socket to the SMTP server Check your SMTP settings from the admin control panel Apparently messages are getting through, though I haven't seen a single e-mail notification all morning, and I got four duplicate messages from one member alone! Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 FYI, I got this same message about 20 minutes ago when I was posting to a thread... Mail Error! SMTP protocol failure! Host: localhost Return Code: Return Msg: Invision Power Board Error: Could not open a socket to the SMTP server Check your SMTP settings from the admin control panel Quote
Jim Dye Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Dan, I replied to your PM. Did you get it? If not, the answer is "I'm In!" Thanks. FWIW...I have my personal email hosted by the same company that hosts this board and I am having trouble with my email as well. Quote
