I was a big Gino Vanelli fan back in the mid and late '70's when he first emerged. The music of Gino and his brother Joe was very jazz based rock and fusion, and Gino's voice was great, but the lyrics were always weak. I don't listen to lyrics much anyway. After about the sixth album he got very "pop" and "punk" oriented and I quit listening to him. What were you listening to, and when was it recorded?

I have been listening to my old cassettes for the past month, and in the past week or two I have listened to a couple of Gino Vanelli albums for the first time in a number of years - Gist of the Gemini and A Pauper in Paradise. I also have his first album, which as I recall was called Crazy Life, but that's an LP which is boxed away.

I think they're enjoyable enough, and for my money a lot better than most of the popular music that was being made at that time.

Big time guilty pleasure for me. My Father had all of those records when I was growing up.

Years later, I found out that the saxophone player on the record Storm At Sunup was none other than Jerome Richardson!

Interesting performer. Keeps reinventing himself. Had that hairy chest run in the '70s, bounced back with a cool (for the times) look and a big hit in the '80s, sang Italian songs in the '90s, and is still performing.
