Jazz Kat Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 When does the next batch of RVG's come out. And where do you find out what titles are being reissued. Quote
jazzbo Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 I think the next batch is in February. There is a thread now on AAJ that lists them. . . I assume it's accurate. Quote
jazzbo Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Here's what "Kyo" at AAJ board says: FEBRUARY 2007 (6 RVGs) ICPN: 0094637421420 Lou Donaldson - Lush Life (7 tracks) ICPN: 0094637421628 Kenny Drew - Undercurrent (6 tracks) ICPN: 0094637421826 Johnny Griffin - Introducing (bonus tracks) (8 tracks) ICPN: 0094637422021 Duke Pearson - The Right Touch (bonus track) (7 tracks) ICPN: 0094637422229 Horace Silver - You Gotta Take A Little Love (7 tracks) ICPN: 0094637422427 Stanley Turrentine - The Spoiler (bonus track) (7 tracks) MARCH 2007 (6 RVGs) ICPN: 0094637422625 Donald Byrd - The Cat Walk (6 tracks) ICPN: 0094637422823 Dexter Gordon - Clubhouse (6 tracks) ICPN: 0094637423028 Andrew Hill - Compulsion (4 tracks) ICPN: 0094637423226 Thad Jones - Detroit-New York Junction (5 tracks) ICPN: 0094637423424 Jackie McLean - New And Old Gospel (3 tracks) ICPN: 0094637423721 Art Taylor - A.T.'s Delight (6 tracks) Quote
felser Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 ICPN: 0094637423028 Andrew Hill - Compulsion (4 tracks) Now there's some great news! Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 ICPN: 0094637423028 Andrew Hill - Compulsion (4 tracks) Now there's some great news! I'll second that!! Since PAX was in the last round of Conns, I think that means the entire original Andrew Hill Mosaic set has been reissued on CD domestically, with the only exception being that last date with Sam Rivers. And I'll bet that one ends up being a Conn within the next year or three too. Yippee!!! (Not for myself so much -- I've already got the Mosaic -- but I'm thrilled all of Hill's material is becoming available again, for other people to be able to purchase.) Quote

You can go $100+ to the good by selling the Mosaic and buying the individual titles! Quote
Kyo Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Here's what "Kyo" at AAJ board says: I was really just quoting Bluerein from this thread I started: When will the next RVG and Conn batches be announced? Quote
jazzbo Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Yes, that's right, I remember that now. . . had seen your AAJ contribution earlier this morning. Quote
DatDere Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 I was hoping for Jackie Mac's "One Step Beyond".. What's taking them so long? Anyway, looks like a fine batch nonetheless.. Quote
Guy Berger Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 I was hoping for Jackie Mac's "One Step Beyond".. What's taking them so long? I'm guessing this will not get RVG'd anytime (any time?) soon, since it is also available on the Moncur Mosaic Select. Guy Quote
Jazz Kat Posted October 29, 2006 Author Report Posted October 29, 2006 When will they do some Three Sounds records... Quote
Soulstation1 Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 the 3 sounds cds don't sell Quote
Ron S Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 I really dig this 2-disc Conn (still in print) with The 3 Sounds: Quote
Jazz Kat Posted October 29, 2006 Author Report Posted October 29, 2006 I dig it too. I have it on vinyl. It reminds me of Kenny Burrell's Midnight Blue. Quote
Guy Berger Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 the 3 sounds cds don't sell That may be true, but I'm guessing that many of the other RVGs don't sell well either. Guy Quote
Ron S Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 I dig it too. I have it on vinyl. It reminds me of Kenny Burrell's Midnight Blue. You should pick up the Conn (lots more music) before it goes OOP. Quote
Bluerein Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 Thanks Kyo for clearing that up!!! Turrentine sells much better than the 3 Sounds so that could be reissued easily. The 3 Sounds will get a select or mosaix set in the future so stick around and you'll be able to get it in your lifetime!!!! Quote
BruceH Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 I'm really curious about that Art Taylor album (A. T.'s Delight)---anybody know who's on it? Quote
Soulstation1 Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Dave Burns; Stanley Turrentine; Wynton Kelly; Paul Chambers; Carlos "Patato" Valdez Quote
BruceH Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Dave Burns; Stanley Turrentine; Wynton Kelly; Paul Chambers; Carlos "Patato" Valdez Right, thanks. That's the album with the orange cover, I should have known. Quote

And I'll bet that one ends up being a Conn within the next year or three too. I think that is a fabulous session - can't wait to see it. Rooster - how does it compare to Compulsion? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Dave Burns; Stanley Turrentine; Wynton Kelly; Paul Chambers; Carlos "Patato" Valdez Right, thanks. That's the album with the orange cover, I should have known. I'm quite fond of that session. My Toshiba vinyl has more of a red cover, though not "deep" red. I can't see it moving units quickly, but maybe I underestimate the jazz public... Quote
CJ Shearn Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 I keep hoping JOS "Live at Club Baby Grand" will be reissued domestically, emailed MC but have not yet heard. Quote
Bill B Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 (edited) It was rumored about some while ago, that when the Baby Grand sessions are released they could include tracks which were previously listed as rejected. Edited November 1, 2006 by Bill B Quote
michel devos Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 I keep hoping JOS "Live at Club Baby Grand" will be reissued domestically, emailed MC but have not yet heard. Same here...I still have one original LP BLP1528 but never could buy VOL.1 and 2 on CD even in Japan. Do you have any idea of what drives OOP albums into the RVG edition, by the way..? Quote
