riverrat Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Shortly after spending a ridiculous amount for a copy of the the long OOP and nearly impossible to find Verve Master Edition version of this title, I learned that it was due to be reissued in Japan. It is now available HERE and other places. Has anyone picked up the new reissue? Any comments on its sound vis a vis the VME version? This is a great session and despite the fact that my VME has now plunged in value, it's good to see it available again. Deserves it's reputation as one of Lateef's best IMO. Quote

Great to see this one back again - it is one of Lateef's best. Previous issue was a 'Verve Elite Edition'. Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 I had only a CDR of this one and just picked it up from da basstids. "what a swinging little record" have not compared it to the dupe but the sound is AOK with a bit of tape hiss on the softer passages, but hey this is '57. (point size on the liner notes makes them Tubby re-issues look like billboards) Quote
Head Man Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 (point size on the liner notes makes them Tubby re-issues look like billboards) At least there's a copy of the original liner notes in English. Some of the Japanese reissues only have liner notes in Japanese! Quote
