As Mr. Merton writes in LEARNING TO LOVE, "Even Bob Dylan is not perfect."

Matthew, did you know Merton had hopes that Dylan would set a poem of his to music? I don't know if he ever actually sent the poem to Dylan or not... He sure liked to play ol' Bob around the hermitage, evidently.

Yeah, Merton was really into Dylan, which would make sense because Merton was drenched in the Freach poetry that Dylan seemed to be into at that stage in his career. BTW, I've been thinking about Merton a lot lately, and with great sadness for some reason. Like so many priests/nuns during that time, and after for that matter, he seemed to be adrift in a sea with no map to give him directions.
