brownie
The video of the concerts given by the John Coltrane classic quartet at the Antibes festival in July 1965 seem to be resurfacing. Those Antibes concerts were directed by Jean-Christophe Averty and have not been seen in ages! Naima The video here carries the logo of the Arte TV channel! Edited to fix... The 'Naima' video was taken from the concert given by the John Coltrane quartet at the Comblain jazz festival in Belgium on August 1, 1965 a few days after the Antibes concerts. Here is an excerpt of the 'A Love Supreme' video from the Antibes jazz festival that is being shown on the Ashley Kahn A Love Supreme site... Claude
Thanks brownie. I saw that Trane documentary on ARTE a couple of years ago. I have a 19 minute video file from that concert, which seems to have been taken from a commercially released VHS tape. The quartet plays "Naima" and "Blue waltz" (according to the screen text) Here's some interesting info: http://listserv.uh.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind03...;T=0&P=1620 Edited October 17, 2006 by Claude
