kh1958 Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Smack Up probably would have been a better choice, even if you had to break a $20. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted October 17, 2006 Author Report Posted October 17, 2006 oh is that really so Quote

brownie Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 You would have made a better deal by getting the 2CD release It has all ten tracks that were on the two StraightAhead vinyls plus another tune (Holiday Flight) from those gigs. Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 Still that CD has one big drawback: It's a CD only Nothing beats good ol' Vinyl - that one's gonna last forever (and who knows what future umpteenth-generation CD players might do with present-day CD's one day - "data format not recognized" etc. ) No, seriously: At the time the two LP's were around (even as secondhand items) the CD might not have been on the market yet so there was no choice. Finally, thanks for the line-up, Chuck Nessa. Will note it on my copy tonight after work. Quote

Just what I needed But in the case of albums like the Peppers, I am not holding out on buying the music on CDs specially when they have added tracks (one in that particular case). The original recording by Bob Andrews (bless him wherever he is now) was not exactly state of the art. The sound on that CD reissue is nothing to be ashamed of! Quote
brownie Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 Tina Louise! As hot as Deborah Kerr And Tina recorded with Coleman Hawkins! Can't remember a record reunion of Kerr and Bean Quote
kh1958 Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 oh is that really so Well, yes, you should get all the Art Pepper Contemporarys before delving into low-fi live recordings. This one even has Art playing Ornette Coleman's Tears Inside. Quote

Is this definitely wrong? Have both LP's been recorded on March 30/April 1, 1953? Just wondering ... Quote

I knew Bob Andrews a bit and remember asking him about the date. I think he said it was recorded "on one or two nights". Quote
