oh, I thought you were talking of the guy about whom President Chirac said "with his melodies full of happiness and optimism, [...] lit up the lives of millions of French people."

Good Life

Words by Jack Reardon and Music by Sascha Distel

Oh, the good life, full of fun seems to be the ideal

Mm, the good life lets you hide all the sadness you feel

You won't really fall in love for you can't take the chance

So please be honest with yourself, don't try to fake romance

It's the good life to be free and explore the unknown

Like the heartaches when you learn you must face them alone

Please remember I still want you, and in case you wonder why

Well, just wake up, kiss the good life goodbye

Not sure this is the whole text, but it's the best I could find.

Y'all are familiar with this tunes, since it's included on this perennial favourite:

Also familiar to millions as a hit single contained on this hit album:

But I'll take Hank's version. He plays the lyrics better than Tony sings them.

Nope. Sinatra covered it (w/Basie), but Bennett had the big hit.

Say, some other singer covered it, too. In the late 80's--not in the late 60's, when she recorded with a killer PIANIST AND BASSIST, Jim!
