danasgoodstuff Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 I really like Rhino's Roots of Funk, Vol.1/2, a sort of prequel to their History of Funk series, once the genre gets firmly established it all gets too reified for me (more or less true for all genres, but more so for funk IMHO). There is some rare stuff on Root's , BUT has a healthy dose of the usual suspects . Cissy Strut, Spreadin honey, Funky broadway pt.1 , Tramp...... dan , i would get the box set just for the 2 Sly cut's alone..ton's of rare stuff i have never heard on What It Is !!! Quote
