The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Just listening to this and really wanting it on a CD. A great album from 1957, recorded by RVG but not at home. Issued by Toshiba in Japan on BNJ 61013, and dropped out of sight? MG Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 I have a cd of it - TOCJ-1610, issued in 1996. Quote

BruceH Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 What does "LD" stand for? (I keep thinking Listening Device, but that can't be it.) Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 (edited) Lewd Onaldson The title is a take-off on the LD + 3 date with the Three Sounds. Edited October 15, 2006 by Chuck Nessa Quote

Kyo Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Does the Japanese CD have all tracks from the session or should I wait for an international release with bonus tracks? Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 16, 2006 Author Report Posted October 16, 2006 If the HMV Japan site is correct, the TOCJ doesn't have all the tracks on the LP - "Cha cha J", on which Jimmy plays piano, is missing. Glad you mentioned this Kyo - I was going to try to find my way through the Japanese to buy it. MG Quote

Brad Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Great CD although I remember some so so reviews of it. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 thanks Bluesman! I will have to get one as soon as I can. If anything this is historic for having Jimmy on piano, as is the recently reissued "Keep on Comin". Quote
sjarrell Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 And HMV has one less copy. Ordered yesterday and it's already shipped! Soon I can retire my battered, thoroughly enjoyed CD-R. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 18, 2006 Author Report Posted October 18, 2006 And HMV has one less copy. Ordered yesterday and it's already shipped! Soon I can retire my battered, thoroughly enjoyed CD-R. Phew! I was going to hang on for a bit, then I saw you'd ordered it and decided I'd better get my skates on. Now on the way. (Plus "Cherokee", which I haven't even got on LP.) MG Quote
Saint Vitus Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 It looks like most of the BN Works TOCJ series is being reissued. Good news. Quote
sjarrell Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 It looks like most of the BN Works TOCJ series is being reissued. Good news. I figured HMV just had a secret, shockingly cheap stash of old ones! I would've ordered from Hiroshi if I'd known. That said, I just checked tracking info and my disc landed at JFK 14 minutes ago and shipped out 9 minutes later. That's efficiency! And hey, MG- you'll be glad you pulled the trigger! Glad I could give you a push Quote
sjarrell Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 And less than 72 hours after ordering, it's in my hands. Holy cow! Quote
Soul Stream Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 This and the "Cherokee" CD from the TOCJ Jimmy Smith stuff is some of my favorite JOS stuff he ever did. He's really on fire on these things. Why they're not out in the states is a shame. Enjoy!!!! Quote
