chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 saw this @ the record store today but it was on a shelf and i couldnt reach it-- has anyone heard this? is it tango-jazz? whats it like? whats the year and other musicans, etc? Quote
brownie Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Quite a unique disc! And a delightful one. I have the French vinyl (on Festival). You can call it tangojazz if you want. There is a good mix of the two. Piazzola plays bandoneon and Mulligan sticks to baritone. They are accompanied by Italian musicians (this was recorded in Rome in October 1974). Piazzola composed the tunes except for one 'Aire de Buenos Aires' which was penned by Mulligan. Quote
EKE BBB Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 (edited) From the Library of Congress, taken by Franca R. Mulligan (1976) Edited October 10, 2006 by EKE BBB Quote

jazzman4133 Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 (edited) WOW!!!!!!!!!! After reading this post I decided to find my old tape of "Summit" and put it on CD. While surfing for a picture of the cover I found a web site (in Spanish I think) where you can download this entire album, free, with no entry of your e-mail, name, etc. Go here Mulligan - Astor and scroll down the page. The sound quality is excellent as I've already burned it on to a CD. Be sure to right click the download link and chose "save as" and then put it in a folder of your choice. mulligan and astor Reunion Cumbre (Summit) Tracks: Hace 20 Años (20 Years Ago) Cierra tus ojos y escucha (Close your eyes and listen) Años de soledad Deus Xango 20 años despues (20 years after) Aire de Buenos Aires (Mulligan) Reminiscence Reunion Cumbre Group: Piazzolla, Astor/Mulligan, Gerry Musicians: Piazzolla (Astor) - bandoneon Mulligan (Gerry) - baritone saxofone Gatti (Angel 'Pocho') - keyboards De Piscopo (Tullio) - drums Prestipino (Giuseppe) - electric bass Baldan (Alberto) - marimba Ziloli (Gianni) - marimba Dacco (Filippo) - electric guitar De Filippi (Bruno) - electric guitar Benedetti Michelangelo (Umberto) - violin Riccio (Renato) - viola Miori (Enio) -cello String Orchestra Edited October 21, 2006 by jazzman4133 Quote

kh1958 Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 now all i want 2 download is a plane ticket to see donald byrd in london. Unless the plane takes you back to pre-1970 Donald Byrd, you are going to be very disappointed. He lost his "chops" a long time ago. Quote
