MartyJazz Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Hey man, screwing 16 year olds is what Rock Stars are supposed to do, so let's not get too offended. I myself am more offended that a schmuck like Gary Puckett got to be a Rock Star in the first place! ← I'm trying to recall the film in which a rock star says to his buddy: "You saw the girl I made it with last night. Turns out she's 15 years old". (Pause)......I could have sworn she was 12." Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 How about "Seasons in the Sun?" I hear it everytime they advertise those multi-disc collection of oldies on TV. Quote

Jazzmoose Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 Nirvana did a really cool version of "Seasons in the Sun." ← Until now I didn't think anyone would even attempt to use "Seasons in the Sun" and "cool" in the same sentence... Quote
Kalo Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 (edited) Amazing. I was sitting in my car the other day, and as Young Girl was playing on the radio I was marveling at its pedophilic pomposity. On who's playlist I wonder? It's seems more Tom Cruise than Dick Cheney, letting it all hang out like that. Way out of line. ← "Pedophilic pomposity"! "Seasons in the Sun" was written by the dreaded (at least in my household) Jacques Brel, the Belgian song poet. The definitively crappy 1970s version of the song was by a Canadian mediocrity known as Terry Jacks. I am second to none in my admiration for both Belgium (the best beer and comic books in the world, plus Rene Magritte) and Canada (all those great comedians, cartoonists, and Robertson Davies). But it kind of makes sense that a major candidate for worst hit song of all time would be the bastard offspring of these two nations. The lyrics were translated into English by none other than Rod McKuen, author of Feel the Warm, as well as a recording artist in his own right. Read it and weep: http://www.superseventies.com/1974_3singles.html The Poppy Family!!!!!! Edited July 8, 2005 by Kalo Quote
