GA Russell Posted September 23, 2022 Author Report Posted September 23, 2022 Well, I forgot to post the final score. The second half was all Melbourne, and they won 21.14 (140) to 10.6 (66). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_AFL_Grand_Final. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-grand-final-2021-melbourne-demons-vs-western-bulldogs-live-updates-score-start-time-video-stream-blog/news-story/bc1bb66f7efccb9d3eac5aa333669230 This was Melbourne's first premiership since 1964, when the Beatles' current US album was Something New. ***** This year's Grand Final is tomorrow night (US time), starting around midnight eastern time. The Geelong Cats will face the Sydney Swans. I'm rooting for the Cats because I always root for the pre-1990 VFL clubs. I expect the link from Sept. 25 last year will be good again. Quote
GA Russell Posted September 28, 2023 Author Report Posted September 28, 2023 This year's Grand Final will be this Saturday afternoon, starting at 2:30 pm local time. That is 12:30 am US eastern time, and 9:30 pm Friday US pacific time. The Collingwood Magpies will face the Brisbane Lions. I don't root for the new clubs, so I will be pulling for the Pies. You can watch the game here: https://7plus.com.au/where-to-watch-the-afl-grand-final I'm assuming that the radio links will be the same as last year. Quote
GA Russell Posted September 29, 2023 Author Report Posted September 29, 2023 The game starts in about 9 1/2 hours. Quote
GA Russell Posted September 27, 2024 Author Report Posted September 27, 2024 Time to catch up! Collingwood won last year 90-86. The announcer said over and over, "This is one of the greatest Grand Finals ever!" Collingwood had a half-goal lead. They would score a goal, and then Brisbane would promptly score its own to maintain the small deficit. Really something. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_AFL_Grand_Final ***** This year's game is TONIGHT!!!!! The Brisbane Lions will return to face the Sydney Swans. The game will start at 2:30 pm Saturday Melbourne time, which is to say 9:30 pm Friday pacific time, and 12:30 am eastern time. I expect that the audio link from 2022 above will be good. If not, I will post a good link if I can find one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_AFL_Grand_Final Quote
GA Russell Posted September 28, 2024 Author Report Posted September 28, 2024 Here is the radio broadcast. https://nirs.org.au/program-guide/ National Indigenous Radio Service Quote
GA Russell Posted September 28, 2024 Author Report Posted September 28, 2024 While you are listening to the radio, @AFL is posting videos of the goals on Twitter/X. Quote
GA Russell Posted September 28, 2024 Author Report Posted September 28, 2024 Sydney finished the regular season in first place, and Brisbane in fifth place. Sydney led by two goals for a few minutes in the first quarter, but since then it has been all Brisbane. Brisbane led 27-19 after the first quarter, and an incredible 73-27 at halftime. Quote
GA Russell Posted September 28, 2024 Author Report Posted September 28, 2024 After three... Brisbane - 16.11.107 Sydney - 5.4.34 You may recall that two years ago, Geelong beat Sydney 133-52. I don't know what Sydney's problem is, but they don't show up for the Grand Final. Quote
GA Russell Posted September 28, 2024 Author Report Posted September 28, 2024 Final... Brisbane - 18.12.120 Sydney - 9.6.60 To sum it up, Brisbane scored seven goals in the second quarter, and that was that. Brisbane won three in a row 2001 - 2003, but hadn't won since. Congratulations Brisbane! Quote
