Great Hank Mobley Month!

Hi all,

I just wanted to share my great reissued Hank Mobley aquirings this month:

1. "Another Workout" RVG - Yes finally here! Good sound and som great soft-toned playing.

2. "Popping Spanish" BN - This swings like mad and has great sound too. Very very recommended.

3. "Curtain Call" TOCJ Japan - Wow! That ballad "Darn that dream" is soooo beautiful. And Sonny Clark on piano...don't get me started

Hank Mobley was the man and this month MY MAN!

Have you never been so happy with some new reissues that you just had to share?

Spanish Poppin's sound Q was just great and above expectation. I wonder which remastering they are from??? Anyone knows??

We believe the Spanish version of Poppin' was taken from the Japanese source (presumed to be by Yoshio Okazaki).

The Spanish disk has "TOCJ-1620" printed on it.

The original issue was legit and produced by Time-Life in Spain. The series came out every other week and was to be sold exclusively as part of a package that included a book in installments (can't remember which book it was).

I say "original issue" because these were published in 1998, and quite some years later they have popped up in the UK and even in the US (I think) so chances are that someone managed to print more CDs than needed.

Fer Urbina, Yes you are right about the TOCJ-1620 marking. It's on my discc. I'll be looking out for those ;-)
