Hoppy T. Frog Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 (edited) Incidentally, a local shop has the 18 LP Japanese Box set that started it all. Is $250 a fair price? Edited: I see that Mosiac is auctioning a sealed version with a starting price of $199 ($11 shipping). Edited October 10, 2009 by Hoppy T. Frog Quote
Brad Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 The entire series included booklets with data and notes copied from the complete Keynote box. The booklet in the Hawkins set is 32 pages - half English and half Japanese. There is also a Coleman Hawkins which lists USA as the country of origin. There are no substantive differences in the content of the set. But, the booklet is shorter (does not include the second half which was the Japanese liner notes); inside cover of a set I just bought is blank (where the track listing for the first disc would appear--it does appear in other places in the notes and on the back of the box); lettering on the CD's is black (Japanese one is red). Copyright is different also, lists Verve on US one and does not mention JASRAC. Great series and very interesting thread. Is there one on the Benny Carter disc? I have been curious about that one; I have seen a few copies of it and none of them has the liner notes in English; usually it is in Spanish. Does anyone have a copy of this disc w/liners in English? Regards, Baker I don't know if you're asking about the Hawkins one but I have the Japanese version which has the liners in both languages. I also have the Carter one but that one, like yours, is in Spanish. Quote
