connoisseur series500 Posted September 29, 2008 Author Report Posted September 29, 2008 Brian Griese wins another game for Tampa. I tell you what...just as Mike Shanahan in Denver makes average running backs look good, so does John Gruden resurrect average quarterbacks (such as Simms, Garcia, and Griese.) Quote

Stefan Wood Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Cowboys laid an egg today at home. Didn't play with any enthusiasm or energy today. Romo's INT led to the game winning FG, as it turned out. Not enough of a running game today, either. They tried to hit home runs or something all day. Every game in that division will be a dogfight. The best teams in the NFL right now reside in the NFC East. I still think the Cowboys will be SB favs by playoff time. Everyone's overlooking the Skins defense. Played flat? The running game was shut down and the big plays were kept to a minimum. Campbell is playing really well right now -- no INTS! Quote

Redskins certainly played a complete game tonight, I don't mean to overlook that. But the Cowboys didn't even try to establish a running game, I don't think it was so much that the Skins shut it down. Barber only had 8 carries, and Felix Jones had none. That's a far cry from last week vs the Packers, when Barber had 28 carries for 142, and Jones had an additional 6 for 76 yards. Still, hats off to the Redskins for coming to play. Quote

connoisseur series500 Posted October 5, 2008 Author Report Posted October 5, 2008 I can't believe that Houston found a way to lose to Indy. Amazing. Indy looks awful. Quote
Shawn Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 The Redskins are looking scary good....it could come down to a battle between them and the Giants as king of the NFC heap. Quote
Stefan Wood Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 (edited) HELL YEAH!!!!! No one, not even the fans in DC thought they could go 4-1 at this point in the season. Amazing! Their defense is being overlooked, and Campbell is playing smart. Go Skins! Edited October 5, 2008 by Stefan Wood Quote
rachel Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I can't believe that Houston found a way to lose to Indy. Amazing. Indy looks awful. True. But...Brackett, Mathis, and Wayne looked good when it counted. Quote
Tim McG Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) Mike Nolan must die. C'mon, York...enough of this rebuilding year bullshit. It's been five years of losing football. Fire his ass already. Geez. Grrrr Edited October 6, 2008 by GoodSpeak Quote
Aggie87 Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 The Cowboys were VERY lucky to escape with a win against the Bengals today. They looked flat for the whole game for the most part. Only Felix Jones seemed to play with any energy, to me. Romo had another INT (8 in 8 straight games now), as well as a fumble. Both led to Bengals scores. And the with only a 24-22 lead, Romo threw a pass into the end zone that bounced off Miles Austin's hands, and into Patrick Crayton's. Could have been picked off and returned the other way for a TD. I think the Boys are talented, but they haven't really gelled on either offense or defense this season, for some reason. Injuries have played a part of that. A couple of WRs have been out on and off all year, and probably their best cornerback, Terence Newman, has also been either out or significantly slowed all season. And Roy Williams is out, though depending on your opinion of his skills, that may or may not be a big deal. But everyone else is dealing with injuries too, so no excuses. I think something's wrong with the coaching and play calling, not sure what though. Quote

Shawn Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 In other news, the Lions still suck. ...but the Seahawks are catching up. I'm so glad Holmgren is retiring after this season, time to go back to the drawing board with that team. Actually, what miracle is going to need to take place for the NFC west to be truly competitive? Only the Cardinals have any signs of life this year...and they're going to get killed when they go up against the stronger teams down the stretch. Quote

Big Al Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 The Cowboys were VERY lucky to escape with a win against the Bengals today. They looked flat for the whole game for the most part. Only Felix Jones seemed to play with any energy, to me. [cut] I think something's wrong with the coaching and play calling, not sure what though. You got BOTH right! Coach Candyland thinks it's the MEDIA'S fault that the poor little Boys can't concentrate, and why oh why can't the media just focus on the the fact that the Boys won and they're 4-1? Geez!* *That last word is a direct quote from Coach Candyland himself! The Cowboys have no leadership, but that's what happens when the owner is also the GM and the "head coach." (Technically Jerry isn't the head coach, but every coach since the Jimster (and maybe Barry) has been a Jerry puppet (i.e. everyone except Big Bill Parcells), and Wade Phillips is no exception) Quote
Big Al Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Now, how about this Vikings/Saints game? Whatta game!!! Who came up with the bright idea to punt the ball to Reggie Bush again after he's already run one punt back for a TD? Sure enough, he did it again. IF the Saints win tonight, it'll be because of him cuz apparently their offense hasn't done too much. Quote
sal Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 (edited) The Redskins are looking scary good....it could come down to a battle between them and the Giants as king of the NFC heap. Don't forget da Bears!!! Even in the two games they blew in the end, they outplayed their opponents pretty much the whole game. Kyle Orton is looking better and better each week (almost 400 years Sunday!), and the defense is dominating without Tommie Harris and Nathan Vasher in there. Granted the Lions aren't the best competition, but even last week against Philly, the Bears are showing signs that they can contend this year. Edited October 7, 2008 by sal Quote
