connoisseur series500 Posted December 20, 2007 Author Report Posted December 20, 2007 Wow, I find it hard to swallow (pun intended) that Simpson's presence at the game was a primary reason for Romo's poor performance. If that was the case then he's not the player I thought he was. And I was wondering when we would start hearing from TO again. I really thought Dallas was the real deal and had predicted a NE/Dallas Superbowl, but I'm not so sure now. What a difference a couple weeks make! Looks like the meltdown has commenced. It will be interesting to see how many teams experience this phenomenon. Well the Ca'boys had to sneak past the less-than-sterling Lions two weeks ago. Then they get whapped by Philly. I can't wait to see that jackass TO go sideways on Romo and blow up the team chemistry We can't deny that this is a possibility, but I wouldn't panic just yet. In all fairness, the Pats haven't looked like worlbeaters over the last 3-4 games either, though they did thump the Steelers. Successful teams sometimes go through mini-slumps. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted December 21, 2007 Author Report Posted December 21, 2007 Cracking good game so far tonight on NFL Network. I hope I'm not the only one able to watch it. Rams are giving Steelers all they can handle so far. Quote

connoisseur series500 Posted December 21, 2007 Author Report Posted December 21, 2007 Bad news for the Steelers: RB Willie Parker fractured his ankle. He's done for the season. Quote

Aggie87 Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 Alot of Yoko Romo masks at the Dallas/Carolina game tonight, LOL! Doesn't seem to be affecting Romo's game though. He's had a solid first half, and his thumb seems fine. 17-7 Dallas at the half. T.O. hurt his ankle or something though, so the Pokes are playing with Crayton, Hurd, and Austin as their WRs. That doesn't inspire fear in too many other teams, I bet. Would be nice if T.O. and Terry Glenn were both on the field some day again. Dallas' solid NT, Jay Ratliff, got hurt too, though I don't know the extent of his injury. And C Andre Gurode was already out - Cowboys have ALOT of injuries lately (not to mention Roy Williams' suspension). Quote
Aggie87 Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 Well, the Cowboys pulled out the win tonight. They certainly weren't the same team after TO's injury though. They need to beat the Redskins next weekend to ensure homefield advantage throughout the playoffs (assuming GB wins out). Would be nice if they can win with a dominant running game vs. the Skins, then rest up and try to get their guys healed during the first round bye. Alot of dinged up guys on both sides of the ball. Free For All Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 I just love not having the NFL network. Quote
Big Al Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 When I turned off the game, it was 17-7. Was Witten a non-factor for the rest of the game? I knew it would be difficult not having Owens out there, but I always thought the Cows secondary was strong enough to withstand a loss like that. While I think it's funny that there were people wearing Jessica Simpson masks, it's something I could never do, no matter how much I hated a team. My face looks dumb enough as it is without putting the face of stupidity on it. Quote
papsrus Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 (edited) new nickname for Jessica Simpson = Yoko Romo I just gotta say, what's the deal with the raccoon eyes? Babe, ease up. I dealt with a sales woman the other day who literally had her eyebrows painted on somewhere on her forehead and an ungodly amount of eye makeup. Like a Boy George kinda deal. And she was trying to look good, not freaky. Damn. (maybe someone put ink on those binoculars) ... Course, I look suspiciously like a small dog, so I probably shouldn't criticize too much .... Big Al Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 Unless Favre starts finding his rhythm, the Cows road to the Super Bowl will likely stay in Dallas. Funny thing: my dad is a die-hard Bears fan, but he also despises the Cowboys. For the first time in his life, he's actually rooting for his favorite team's hated rival! Quote
JSngry Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 Hey, them Bears is ok by me right now! Quote
Van Basten II Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 (edited) Pick the Bills to beat the Giants, look like a genius for about a quarter :bwallace2: By the way, so much for parity, when was the last time there was so little to decide with so few teams in the running before the last week of regular season. Fortunately to keep us entertained the Patriots We hate everybody tour will still be going on. Edited December 24, 2007 by Van Basten II Quote
Tim McG Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 And so the hapless Dolphins were supposed to be able to beat the Patriots because....? Hm. Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 has the mighty nfl blinked? i cant remember a decision they have ever made that didnt make them money. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nf...ts-giants_N.htm Quote
GA Russell Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 Well, the article says that they were feeling political pressure. In addition, I don't see any loss of revenue for them, because the NFL Network is not pay-per-view. In this case, I don't see it to be a matter of the league losing out on the money of anyone who might choose to subscribe to NFL Network to see the game. Rather, the game is unavailable to most households because the cable systems won't carry the NFL Network on the terms the NFL demands. Until the NFL moves to a pay-per-view system, I have to think that their bottom line is best served by having the greatest number of viewers watch their big games. I think this move does hurt the sports bars, however. They would have benefited from the increase of one-off customers who would have come in to watch this game. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 Poor sports bars. Why, there's only about 3000 of them in Lansing alone. Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 (edited) the nfl has never made a move 'for the fans.' (consider the 830pm deep december night games in new england) how much extra will the nfl be charging the networks to carry this game 'for the fans'.? because of the writer's strike, the networks jumped all over this opportunity. Free For All Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 (edited) Pretty good game so far in the Meadowlands. Eli's having a good game; I really respect NY for coming out and playing tough- although if anyone gets hurt people will say they were foolish. I love to see a team playing the MF game! Bravo! Any Conn-cern at this point? Agg's probably watching his boys play Penn State...that one's tied at the moment, also a good game. Edited December 30, 2007 by Free For All Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 it's great seeing a football game without the endless meaningless crawlers that infest all other games. the tv sound is off, of course. i am listening to the giant broadcast which is in synch with the telecast. Quote
Shawn Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 Wow, what a night of football! The amount of records broken in this game is staggering, but the most important aspect to me was how entertaining it was. We had two football teams playing a meaningless game (playoff wise), but they CAME TO PLAY. In the end, no team has been able to play the Patriots for a full 60 minutes all year. The simulcast was also a classy move on the NFL's part. I was 2 years old when the '72 Dolphins went undefeated, I give them all the respect in the world. But, what a treat to see a team do it in this free agency crazy sport. I'm really glad I got a chance to see this. Quote
