Stefan Wood Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 Talk about a horrible year, if you are a 'Skins fan like me. After another intolerable loss yesterday, their injured strong safety Sean Taylor gets shot at home in Florida. He is in critical condition. and they are not sure if he will make it. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted November 26, 2007 Author Report Posted November 26, 2007 (edited) Incredible news on Sean Taylor. Hope he pulls through. It was a gunshot to the leg but it hit an important artery. I don't understand why teams continue to kick to Hester. He is 30% of the Bears' offense. I'm not concerned about the Pats at all. They played flat and they needed a good test. Blowouts don't count as real football. The team can't remain good by blowing people out every game. If they are to win the Super Bowl, they will have to survive several tests. Thank God they got one yesterday. I was never concerned that they would really lose the game at any point. Feeley was doing everything right for three quarters--hitting the receivers and converting long third downs. There was no doubt that the Pats' defense would buckle down for the last quarter and things would unravel. In the meantime, while Patriot receivers were uncharacteristically dropping balls, the Eagle's receivers were catching everything. No way the would maintain that for the whole game. The call on Moss was questionable but I can accept it. The non calls on all the mugging he took the entire game was unforgiveable. At one point, he tried to catch a ball with his shoulder pads revealed. He was being mugged prior to the throw. Whatever.... The team has more weapons than just Randy Moss. They barely ran the ball against a defense that was playing soft against the run. SS1 and I have a bet on who will catch more passes this year, Reggie Wayne or Wes Welker. He even spotted me 10 receptions. Right now, Welker is ahead by 13 receptions. SS1 is in trouble. Edited November 26, 2007 by connoisseur series500 Quote

Van Basten II Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 The fact that their is a tradition of having Detroit and Dallas in the mix does not help. Indy-Atlanta was a decent matchup. Also we can't say that the other games of the week are salivating prospects. Denver-Chicago or Viking-Giants anyone ? Well, Denver-Chicago turned out to be a barn-burner, with some awesome plays on both sides of the ball. One of the best games I've watched this season. Yeah, it was, but on paper were you really excited about the quarterback duel between Grossman and Cutler. It simply turned out to be a suprisingly great game Quote

So you simply knew that Feeley would make a mistake and the defense would come through when it absolutely had to? I cannot understand that level of confidence. The game easily could have been lost, and I was surely worried that they were going to. I don't know, maybe if you're just a Pats fan, losing isn't an option. But if you're a Red Sox fan and a Pats fan, a history of disappointments conditions you to expect the worst. Quote

I totally agree, but if you had to pick games to showcase on national tv, you could say that there were weeks with more obvious choices than the menu of games offered this weekend. My original post was an answer to a poster who criticized the poor quality of games shown on Thanksgiving. Hey, who would have thought that the Eagles would give Patriots fits, i kind of taped the game as a second thought, thinking after the first half i could fast forward it to the end since the game should be out of reach. But if you're a Red Sox fan and a Pats fan, a history of disappointments conditions you to expect the worst. I'm serious. I wasn't concerned at all. Of course, I've been wanting a game like this for a long time. The team's goal is to win the Super Bowl, not finish the season undefeated. There's no way that you can go through 19 games without being tested; and if you are not tested, then there will likely be problems once you do face a tough test. I was delighted by the course of the game. Having to dig a bit like they had to last night will likely be good for a 2-3 more wins. Then the danger of getting big headed will appear again, and they'll need another gut check. Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 I have an NFL VHS called "See How They Run" that has a segment on Sayers. It also features the "Three Blind Mice" song being played in the background during highlights. used to play that when baseball umpires came on the field. Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 i cant imagine gibbs not throwing in the towel after this season, which has been just not good for a coaches health. apparently, joe is too cantankerous for nascar's #20, jackie stewart. at the toyota press conference he said, let the old man stay over there. alocispepraluger102 Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 boomer esiason, doing the radio broadcast of the game, mentioned that the nfl last year made the pats switch to field turf, but not yet the steelers. the field is unacceptable. when i think of the steelers, i think of iron city beer. the only cheap beer at hand is natty ice, so that is adding to my enjoyment of the most boring game ever. Oh hell yeah! There was a column on the cnnsi website in which someone nominated Hank Aaron as sportsman of the year and pointed out how well the members of the '72 Dolphins team would do to take a lesson from Hank in how to deal, with grace and class, with the eclipsing of your cherished record.
