Emmitt's gotta be the worst analyst out there right now. He speaks like the Dubya of sports announcers.

For those of us who remember Dizzy Dean (especially with a few Falstaffs in him...),this is just a continuation of a great tradition not at all incomaptable with the requirements of the job.

Kinda not like being The Leader Of The Free World or whatever. if you know what I mean...

Cowboys/Packers....I gotta go with the old man. Farve is not to be dismisses or disrespected. The Cowboys still don't have "soul" yet, and this cat has it in spades.

All part of the learning curve. Dallas is getting there, but there's still some curve.

Agreed. I'll take Favre's experience any day of the week. Watch out when the old man is having fun...he plays like a 25 year old. Favre is the kind of guy that can will a lesser team into becoming more than the sum of their parts. He's the epitome of class in football today. I'll be one sad dude when he finally decides to retire.

Exciting game between my Steelers and the Browns yesterday. However as the Browns were trying to kick a field goal to put the game into overtime. My CD player was playing Johnny Cash who was singing those lyrics

Your own personal jesus

Someone to hear your prayers

Someone who cares

Your own personal jesus

Someone to hear your prayers

Someone whos there

The Browns and their kicker Dawson never had a chance.

More fun with Emmitt: (the guy is a heck of a lot more fun than 99% of football heads.)

Apparently, Emmitt is oblivious to the criticism. Or no one has bothered to share it with him. Or there's been no effort at all to get him to do a better job.

Because he did it again. Today.

While discussing whether the Steelers can beat the Patriots, Emmitt said: "This kind of inconsistency play against a team like New England will get you completely blowed out."

I'm telling ya, get an education at UF so you too can sound like a moron.

I'm pretty sure UF is one of the top academic institutions in the country ... top 10 I believe. Not an easy school to get into. Of course, that's now. Back when Emmitt attended, I'm not so sure that was the case.

Jason Campbell played a great game today against the Cowboys. He didn't get much help from the Skins' running game though. But it looks like he's finally becoming the QB that the Redskins hoped he would be when they drafted him.

Tony Romo had a good game, and hooked up with T.O. for 4 TD passes. The shotgun snaps were ugly today though - they need some practice or something! I like this quote from Romo about it though:

Part of the reason Dallas struggled to move the ball early was because center Andre Gurode had trouble hiking it. One shotgun snap went off Romo's facemask, two went over his head. Romo recovered both loose balls, throwing an interception on one.

''If you snap it good every time, it's not exciting for the fans,'' said Romo, who was 22-of-32 for 293 yards.

edit - I just saw the Pats go for a cheap TD on 4th down, when they were up 35-7 in the 3rd Qtr versus the Bills. Why couldn't they simply kick a FG when they're up that much, and Buffalo clearly isn't going to come back? Eventually the karma from piling it on against everyone is going to come back against this team. Maybe not this year, but some time.

Its a state school, and while it is trying to be more selective, its goal is to be a Top 10 public university - not quite the same as "top 10". And when Emmitt attended, believe me, its admissions policy was a lot more lenient - as was its educational standards.

Typical comment from a college football fan. I got news for you, Agg. NFL is not college! There's no such thing as running up scores. These are million dollar babies. We put the offense in to score. If we don't want to score, we put in the punting team. We're not playing Texas A&M for cryin' out loud! :beee:

If the Patriots played the Aggies, I think the final score would be something like 223 to -28 (yes, minus!). :P College ball hasn't been much fun for me personally this year, but it's been an exciting year overall. ALOT of Top 10 upsets!

"There's no such thing as running up scores."

Remember that quote some day when Brady tears an MCL when the Patriots are up 42-7 against some lesser team, and his season (and perhaps career) is over.

I honestly believe the other 31 coaches in the NFL would have kicked the FG on 4th down with that lead at that point in the game, instead of trying to pile on uncecessary points.

How did the Steelers manage to lose to the Jets?

Now, no matter what any other team does, the Patriots can lose two of its remaining six games and still clinch home field advantage for the playoffs. Obviously, the Patriots are going to try to win all of those games, but it will be interesting to see how Belichick approaches the final game of the season at the N.Y. Giants (which have a talented defensive line and will be playing in what may very will be an important game for them) if the Patriots are 15-0 at that point.

You ever notice that the Patriots never come out "flat" and lose like the Steelers lost to the 1-8 Jets today? Do you know why, Agg? Think for a while....

It's because Bill Belichick is not about letting up. The team just doesn't stop playing until the game is over. It's really as simple as that. NE played their starters the last game of the 2006 season against Tennessee when they had already won their division. Rodney Harrison got hurt in that game. BB doesn't care. He believes in playing his players. Dungy got some heat the year the Colts were upset against the Steelers. He had rested his players the last game of the season, and the mediots thought his players played flat as a result.

Different styles, folks. I have little doubt that BB will play his starters the last game of the season against the Giants. He might rest them the 4th quarter, but they will be playing.
