PHILLYQ
If one of the NFC West teams ends up winning the division, with a losing record...I think they should be disqualified and the team with the next best record in the NFC gets their slot. A team with a losing record hosting a playoff game should not happen. And what if the 49ers get hot, win the division with a 7-9 record and then go to the Super Bowl?! Then we would have to suffer through yet another "greatest sports story of all time." Bob Costas would wax on. Joe and Jerry would reminisce. But whoever "wins" the West is entitled to a slot in the playoffs and a home game. They'll likely get steamrolled, though. I'm going with Pats vs. Does It Matter? in the Super Bowl. paul secor
Jets' strength coach Sal Alosi has now been suspended indefinitely for the sideline tripping incident. Rookie Jeff Cumberland now says that Alosi had inactive players form a wall along the sideline during punt coverages all season long, but he didn't know why. Jets' special teams coach Mike Westhoff says that he knows nothing about that. No comment yet (that I know of) from Rex Ryan on the latest turn of events. Any bets that Alosi will be paid off to be the fall guy in a coverup?
GA Russell
I don't understand the purpose of the wall. What's the deal?

paul secor
I don't understand the purpose of the wall. What's the deal? http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5922926 Third, fourth, and fifth paragraphs explain it.
GA Russell
Thanks for that link, Paul. Actually it was the audio with the link that answered my question. The five players were encroaching upon the sidelines in an area where only the coaches are allowed to stand. Furthermore, Alosi initially denied instructing the players to stand there, so apparently the team now considers him to have answered the questions dishonestly. Stefan Wood
Sigh.... McNabb, benched. Grossman, starting QB this Sunday. The Shanahan father/son combo better have a good explanation for this. Correction: Benched for THE REST OF THE SEASON. How bad is that? Aggie87
E - A - G - L - E - S!!!! Take that ya stinkin' Gints fans! Wild ending there - would have been nice if Fox would have shown it to us live, instead of cutting away to highlights of other games. Cowboys let Rex Grossman (Rex Grosman!!) throw 4 tds, making him look like Manning. They held on to win 33-30, after being up 27-7. Not an overwhelming win. Dave James
E - A - G - L - E - S!!!! Take that ya stinkin' Gints fans! If this doesn't put Vick back in the MVP picture, I don't know what would. 3 TD's passing, 1 running and 130 yards rushing. If that isn't an MVP performance, I don't know what is. Theses Eagles are for real.

Theses Eagles are for real. in praise of parity, and the nfc west:The 49ers have now changed quarterbacks after each of their last two defeats in an attempt to salvage a losing season. At 5-9, San Francisco still has an opportunity to capture the NFC West title and end a seven-year playoff drought by winning its final two games against St. Louis and Arizona. Chalupa
Can't believe the NFL canceled today's game in Philly because of snow. Granted it's going to be a pretty big snow storm when all is said and done but I can't help but think of all of the Bills/Patriots/Packers/Bear/Steelers/Browns/etc. that I've seen played in worse conditions. They were saying a couple of hours ago there were already ... I forget how many -- but a lot of wrecks on the highways around Philly. I think it was probably the right call to keep people off the streets, although I do love to watch snow games. Larry Kart
As Papsrus said, it wasn't conditions at the stadium that led them to cancel tonight's game but the fact that a lot of people couldn't get there or might have killed themselves and other people trying to get there.
