Shawn Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 As much as I may dislike Vick...he is one amazing athlete. The guy is throwing laser accurate passes these days. Quote
Dave James Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) Damn, the Eagles are giving the Skins a good ol' fashioned ass-whuppin'! Bet Redskin fans everywhere are hitting their knees over Donovan McNabb's new $78 million, five year deal ($40 million guaranteed). I have no idea how Daniel Synder made his money. He's an idiot. Needless to say, being an Eagle fan, tonight's game is as good as it can possibly get. Vick's QB rating at the end of the third quarter was 150.2. That's off the charts. I dislike Vick too, but you've got to admire him as a football player, if not as a person. Edited November 16, 2010 by Dave James Quote
Free For All Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 59-21 Eagles at the end of the 3rd quarter. Great timing for McNabb to sign that huge contract, I'll bet they're really celebrating in Washington. Quote
Shawn Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 To be fair, McNabb has NOBODY to help him on offense. The Redskins are patchy as hell with no real weapons. They need to stop going after free agents and draft some young guys. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Vick's not so hot; he didn't catch a single pass. I have to admit he did everything else, though... Quote

BruceW Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 If you really want to be fair, the Redskins defense lost that game, comon, 59 points by the end of 3 quarters. McNabb didn't have a chance, it was 28 zip in the first quarter. And McNabb and the offense still managed to generate 21 points, a winning score in many games. Although McNabb coughed up INT's, the offensive line really ain't that great either. I'm just saying!! And I didn't even see the final quarter, what was the final score?? Quote

They need to stop going after free agents and draft some young guys. I keep hearing the excuse that he has no weapons but that's not exactly true. Santana Moss is a #1 or #2 on any team in the NFL and to pretend other wise is ludicrous. Outside of TO or and DeSean Jackson he's the best WR DMac has had in 12 seasons. Additionally, Cooley is more than an above average TE. And look at what Michael Vick is doing this year with the same weapons(actually Vick is missing FB Leonard Weaver, who made the Pro Bowl last season) that McNabb had last season in Philly. I love McNabb but he's just not getting it done this season. Edited November 16, 2010 by J.H. Deeley Quote
papsrus Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 I just half-watched the game, but it looked to me like: A) Redskins were flat, a half step (or two or three) slower than Philly, and just looked lost. Blame the coaching staff for that. Eagles were like caged animals let loose. B) As a result, McNabb was under a lot of pressure, which led to some costly throwing errors, timing problems, etc. But the Redskins blocking schemes could not handle what was coming. That was the main deal. And the coaching staff couldn't adjust. Their game plan, such as it was, got blown up almost immediately and whatever adjustments they were trying to make didn't do squat. C) Vick is playing in another dimension altogether. Might be the most dangerous QB in the league right now. Setting aside his personal failings, I'll take him on a football field over either of the Mannings, Brees, and maybe Brady, too. Quote

Personal feelings? Screw that; I'm more than happy that he's not in a Falcons uniform, I don't care how good he is. Quote

Personal feelings? Screw that; I'm more than happy that he's not in a Falcons uniform, I don't care how good he is. I hear you. I'm as conflicted as I can be. I've been a serious Eagles fan since I saw them play an exhibition game here in Portland back in 1959, so not rooting for them is not an option. On the other hand, I'm a dog lover and MIchael Vick is a dog abuser. Not a good combination. I guess I've agreed with myself to try and separate the man from the football player. Maybe that's the chicken s**t way around it, but it is what it is. Also, with respect to Donovan McNabb's new contract, it may not be as bad as it first sounded. Turns out if Washington releases him, they owe "only" $3.75 million. I'm guessing the Skins pick their QB of the future in this year's draft, keep McNabb around for a year or two to break the new guy in and then cut him loose. If that's their plan they'd be very smart if they back end loaded the deal, but I haven't seen anything about that. Edited November 16, 2010 by Dave James Quote
papsrus Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 That was "failings," not feelings. Either way, I agree it's hard to put aside what he did. Quote

So now you're saying I can't read? I suppose next you'll say I can't right either! As far as separating the man from the failings, I can't argue with that. After all, who knows what others have hidden? Although, I must admit, abusing animals is pretty high on my list... Edited November 17, 2010 by Jazzmoose Quote

vajerzy Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) I'm a die-hard Eagles fan, and I don't like Vick- I was upset when the Eagles signed him. I'm trying real hard to seperate the football player from the man. The dog incident is but a long line of issues with Vick: Ron Mexico, bottle with the compartment with pot residue, giving the ATL fans the finger, his "birthday party" where one of his co-horts was shot....he had some incidents at VA Tech that went under the radar. IMO- he is trouble. I have no respect for him as a person- as a football player he is electrifying to watch. Edited November 17, 2010 by vajerzy Quote
JSngry Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Heard on the radio within minutes of the KowBoys loss yesterday, from the mouth of Babe Laufenberg: If Roy Williams isn't this sickest man in America right now, he oughta be. The Sickest Man In America? Wow... Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 I know it's only the end of the third quarter, but the Bears seem to be kicking Vick's but. OTOH, it is the Bears. Quote
papsrus Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) I'm half-watching the Jaguars-Titans game, and this Finnegan guy (Titans DB who baited Texans WR Andre Johnson into a fight a week ago) couldn't make a tackle if his life depended on it. How he stays on an NFL roster is beyond me. On one play, a Jaguars tight end was running toward him with the ball in the open field and Finnegan's strategy was to fall on the ground in front of the guy -- I guess hoping the tight end would trip over him. Didn't quite work, needless to say. He's been equally ineffective on several other plays where's he's had a chance to do something. Terrible player, judging from this game. Free For All Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Damn, did you see the Metrodome collapse? Between that and the Giants' travel problems this game seems to be cursed. So they're going to play it in Detroit tomorrow night? Divine intervention on Favre's behalf? Although one more day is unlikely to change his status. Quote

Imagine if that thing had come down during a game. And prior to the collapse, I don't think there was any talk of postponing the game out of concern for the safety of the building. Maybe there was somewhere, but it certainly wasn't front and center. Quote
