Aggie87
Cowboys looked solid in all aspects I thought. The Browns didn't look like they were ready for the regular season just yet. They have a good challenge playing the Steelers next weekend too. Potential concern for the Boys is Marion Barber having to go in for rib xrays. Hopefully nothing serious there, but Felix Jones looked pretty good in his debut. The defense didn't look like it missed Terence Newman too much, though Pacman did have one PI call that helped keep the Browns' lone TD drive going. Going to be a great challenge in the NFC East with the reigning champ Giants, the solid looking Eagles, and the Boys. Not sure if the Eagles looked THAT good or the Rams looked that bad, or both. Chalupa
Rams looked bad. What's up w/ Brady? That hit he took didn't look too good. According to some "insider" information on Football Night In America his season could be over. Found this on the Boston Herald site. WEEI’s Ron Borges is reporting that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suffered a torn ACL today, citing an NFL source close to the situation. If true, Brady is likely done for the season. Shawn
That's a tough loss, 15 minutes into your season and you lose your hall of fame-bound quarterback.
Aggie87
Sounds like it's true: Sources: Brady out with ACL tear New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the 2008 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, according to a source familiar with the injury. While New England coach Bill Belichick said in his postgame press conference that he had no update on the status of Brady’s injury, two sources indicated it involved serious damage to the knee. “It’s bad,” a team source said. “We’re going to have to play without him.” <randomly placed article snip> ....Well this will be interesting. Belichek's system relies on plugging players into a system, and they've all responded in the past. Will have to see if Cassel can step up. connoisseur series500
Was playing a chess tournament all day and just heard the news. OMIGOD! The sky is falling! Well as Belichick always says, "It is what it is." Let's get on with the season. I guess it is good that it happened early and we have time to get another quarterback in sync with our great receivers. Maybe our defence can win us some games till we can find a good qb. Matt Cassell Chris Simms Daunte Culpepper OMIGOD! Those guys suck!!
Aggie87
Daunte retired (in a whining letter, too). Or is he un-retiring now suddenly?

connoisseur series500
I've calmed down now and look forward to the rest of the season. No good team should ever have to rely on a single player. Bill Belichick's teams never did in the past, and this team won't. Bring it on!! :bwallace2:

Son-of-a-Weizen
Vikes offensive line wasn't looking good.....nor were the refs for that bungled pass interference call that soon led to a GB TD. Worst of all, Tony Kornheiser and his incensent need to gab on about Favre. He adds absolutely nothing to the commentary...how long can this haploid survive at ESPN? connoisseur series500
NFL is a team sport. No player is greater than the team (or shouldn't be.) The Pats can't be a very good team if the loss of one player blows their season. In fact, that's why the NFL is one of the only team sports that I still follow; and why I can't stand to watch the NBA with it's cult of superstar. I can guarantee you that the NE Patriots are more than just Tom Brady; and we will see it this season.
Big Al
Man, this Raiders/Broncos game has got to be one of the worst football games I've ever watched. Hell, I've seen Pee-Wee football played/coached better than this!

However, I think it does knock them down the ladder a few notches as there are very few QB's of Brady's stature in the NFL. I am sure they will still be a competitor, but it does open up the door for a little more competition in the AFC this season...which in and of itself isn't necessarily a bad thing. I do hope that Brady recovers from the injury and comes back 100%, he's a fantastic player to watch.
