CJ Shearn Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 (edited) I just popped in the new Kenny Garrett into the computer, and it sort of confirms my suspicion this record was compressed to hell and is very hot. I can see the levels peaking in Winamp on the first tune "Calling" on the left channel, but where do you guys get those programs that analyze waveforms? couw Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Goldwave will show you the wave and if you see a brick wall consisting of much more sound than silence, it is likely there has been compression. To assess whether a source is lossy, you'd need a programme that can show you a frequency analysis. MP3s are typically cut off at 16 KHz. Quote
