king ubu Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 I'm hooked by this series... got Vols. 3, 4 and 6 now, waiting for Vols. 1, 5, and 7-9 to be delivered in the next days/weeks. Amazon.com still has Vols. 1 and 5, but Vol. 2 is way over the top right now... anyone has a lead where I might find that one? Ships in 1-2 weeks, maybe? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O590N4 Thanks! Will give it a try, doesn't sound like it will absolutely not be available there... crossing my fingers! Seems these turn up and disappear again now and then. Quote
Dave James Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 You gotta love it when you can get a brand new copy for 20 some bucks but the used ones start at $250 and go all the way to $600. Quote

king ubu Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Yes, I was very happy to get Vol. 5, too! Those must be the most fascinating ones (64-69 or so) Quote
king ubu Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Vol. 2 was delivered today! Thanks a lot billyboy - wouldn't have checked back at amazon.com for it, had given up hope!So I have them all, wow! A couple of months ago I thought I wouldn't need them at all... but then I got hooked by JB's music BIGTIME! And amazon.co.uk had (has?) a few of them for really, really good prices, so there you go... Quote
Harold_Z Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 If you dig early James Brown It's a good bet you'll dig the hell out of the Five Royales! Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 I have a question about one of my James Brown singles, "Santa Claus Go Straight to the Ghetto". How do you tell the difference between 45-year old BBQ Sauce and 45-year old Blood? Quote
Van Basten II Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Gittin' a little hipper in one hell of a cool instrumental on the volume 5 Quote
Van Basten II Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Volume 10 is being sold at 6 pound on Amazon UK. Quote
king ubu Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Volume 10 is being sold at 6 pound on Amazon UK. Huh? Just from vendors I see it that cheaply... from Amazon itself, it's 11.54 right now. Too bad or I'd have jumped at this! The price may already have gone up again... Quote
king ubu Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 Is there any way to know which tracks on these Singles sets are mono and which are stereo? I don't see any general remarks anywhere in the booklets! The earlier Polydor compilations (many of them based mainly on singles, too) have alyways included that information... (I'm asking as I've been sorting out JB stuff for a few days now, ripping and ordering chronologically all Singles volumes... now I want to add the missing/extended/stereo/mono version from other compilations, but that's kind of hard if I don't know about stereo/mono regarding the Hip-O-sets!)Btw, Vol. 11 is coming soon - and it's the final volume of the great series.
