Iverson to the McNuggets for Andre Miller, Joe Smith, and two first rounders.

I can't see any good coming out of this.

I disagree. If Iverson can learn to play with others, then Denver becomes a very strong team (but not strong enough to beat the big 3 in the west). Obviously if he hogs the ball then this will not have a good end.

Philly gains the advantage of blowing up and starting from scratch -- definitely a better situation than their current one. Andre Miller isn't exactly chump change either.

Ouch.

"NEW YORK -- The Denver Nuggets were the bigger losers Monday after the NBA handed out penalties in the fight that broke out near the end of Saturday night's game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Denver's Carmelo Anthony, the NBA's leading scorer, was suspended 15 games for sucker-punching the Knicks' Mardy Collinsand then running like a scared coward yelling 'mommy, mommy, mommy'. Denver teammate J.R. Smith and New York's Nate Robinson also received the stiffest of penalties issued by the league -- 10-game suspensions.

Both franchises were fined $500,000 each.

Collins, whose hard foul of Smith was the tipping point to the fight, was suspended for six games. Knicks forward Jared Jeffries was suspended for four games, and New York's Jerome James and Denver's Nene were hit with one-game penalties for leaving their respective benches during an on-court altercation."

There. Thought it needed a little something in the interest of accuracy... :g

Ma Nature cut Denver a break the other night with the blizzard. That was about the only way Denver could avoid being victim number 16 for Phoenix. Next time the Suns see Denver they'll probably have both Iverson and Melo but I still like the Suns chances in the season series because Phoenix plays as a team and AI thinks he is the team.

As Rick Majerus pointed out the other night, there is no "I" in "team", but there is in "Iverson". Count me among the non-fans. I think Philly did well in the trade, and maybe if Melo/AI work out in Denver it will be a mutually beneficial trade.

Cavs falling into familiar pattern of watching LeBron try to win games single-handedly. Oh for a playmaking point guard. And some consistency from Larry Hughes and Damon Jones. And signs of life from Donyell Marshall and Eric Snow.

Has Rasheed Wallace transformed himself entirely into the next Bill Laimbeer (big man that only takes jump shots)? Why wasn't he on the block abusing Ilgauskus and Gooden last night. [One answer: he didn't need to, at least when the game got into the 4th qtr].

'Sheed really needs to go into the post more. Maybe he's old and doesn't feel like being on the receiving end of all that contact anymore, but the Pistons have plenty of guys that can shoot jumpers and 3-pointers. RIP, Chauncey, and Tayshaun can all reliably shoot the 3. 'Sheed should go low.

Good game last night, though. I think the cat is out of the bag on Maxiell. I'm glad he's finally getting some playing time as he looked great in the pre-season.

The Cavs appear to have some chemistry issues across the board, and I think LeBron has a lot of doubt in his teammates.

Chauncey calmly put a couple 4th quarter daggers in the Cavs to extend the lead then dished a couple crucial dimes to put them away last night. I love that guy.

Right now it looks like we are heading toward an eastern conference rematch between the Pistons and Heat, with Chicago as a dark horse. The Bulls are really picking up steam.

My prediction on November 1st was:

The race for 1st place in the central is going to be tought this year -- Detroit, Chicago and Cleveland are all going to be really good. I think the ranking will be Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland. LeBron will get better but he needs a lot of help -- the rest of his team isn't good.

Cavs fans are pretty shitty, too, imo. They started booing the team when they got down. Way to help spur a comeback, ya wankers.

Looks like they were frustrated by less than stellar play and effort, especially the latter. I wouldn't have been booing, but there would be some disgust. I'm confident something similar would happen at the Palace or anywhere else (provided they didn't flee for the exits first).

There is still a lot of talent on that team other than LeBron: Hughes, Gooden, even Ilgauskus. Varajao and Gibson show promise. It's other guys (rumored outside shooters) like Donyell Marshall, Damon Jones, Eric Snow, David Wesley that haven't contributed much for a long time. They are still 11-3 at home (best home record in the association), and they play in the east. They're not playing well now, and they have a long west coast trip coming up. Hopefully, play will improve and they'll be back on the short list of contenders in the east.
