Dallas has now won 8 in a row, Phoenix 14. San Antonio is wondering how they're 5 games back with a .700 record.

And at this same time last year, the Pistons had a better record than everyone, including those teams this year. And look where that got them.

I suppose it's possible that one of those teams will choke like the Pistons did, but I doubt that both of them will. On the other hand, the western conference is so stacked this year that every team except seed #1 will face a very dangerous first round matchup.

I'm interested to see if Phoenix or Dallas will wear down from the breakneck pace they're working at. I wonder if the Mavs still have the Suns' number--or if the Spurs can rise from the ashes and knock either one out. It isn't like San Antonio stinks this year. As far as the Lakers go, they'll have a tougher time against the top Western teams come playoff time. There will be no catching Phoenix (or anyone else) off-guard this year.

Both teams will probably slow down as the end of the season approaches. It happened to the Pistons last year and to the Suns the year before that. The Spurs always seem to go on a big streak near the end of the season, so I wouldn't put a catch-up past them. (Still, 5 games is a big gap when playing against a top team.) Houston could do some damage once Yao comes back though they are probably too far back at this point.

It's too bad Nash won't be considered for a 3rd MVP prize, because he is a serious contender. (Along w/Kobe and Dirk. Also, I nominate TMAc and Yao as a joint-contender -- have they played a single game together this season? Their team is damn good.)

Yes. In double overtime. And the Cavs got contributions from Hughes and Ilgauskus (not just James). They've hit a rough patch that started halfway through their west coast trip where they are in slow motion, and not defending well. I think they play at Philly next.

I'd have to agree on Nash or Dirk as MVP at this point.

the nets just lost their 3rd straight road game. each game was lost by 1 point, the last 2 were lost on last second shots.

They need to up the ante for Gasol.

actually they have lost 3 straight by one point on last second shots. their coach is one of the most remarkably unflappable dudes i have encountered in this nba business. he's gonna be around a long time.

is nelly back coaching the warriors?

Dang. The Sixers suck. Hard.

Up by 17 at the half and playing at home vs. the Cavs w/ no LeBron I figured it was over.Turn off the tv, go down stairs, wash the dishes, etc., about an hour later I turn on the radio to get the score and they lost by 8 points!!! WTF???
