Jerry_L Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) RJ Rockers First Snow Ale - I liked this spiced ale more than I expected to. An easy drinking Winter Warmer at 6% ABV. Fish Tale WinterFish Ale This year's batch has a new label and seems hoppier than ever. Too tart for my taste, but hardcore hopheads might like it. Edited November 20, 2013 by Jerry_L Quote
Jerry_L Posted November 21, 2013 Report Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) Goose Island Sixth Day - Many seem to quite like this, but it was almost a drain pour for me. The 8.3% ABV makes it work as a Winter Warmer, but it has a bitterness throughout that tastes medicinal. If my true love gave this to me, the romance would likely be off. Though there is a creamy brown ale underneath, so I might give her some credit for effort. Sierra Nevada Celebration Fresh Hop Ale 2013 - This is a much more successful execution of a hoppy Winter ale style. It has the characteristic SN hop profile, but balanced with sweet roasted malt. Jerry_L Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Newcastle Cabbie - At the usual 4.2% for Newcastle, you can probably still drive yourself home safely. Nice flavor, though. Edited January 14, 2014 by Jerry_L Quote
