Which jazz artist has recorded the most leader albums in one year?

I was cataloguing Grant Green's cds and Lps I have into the music database and noticed I had 6 separate titles plus the Green & Clark / The Complete Quartets 2cd set, all recorded in 1961. That's a lot of music for one year!

I am sure Green is not even close to being at the top of the list, so who in your estimation has recorded the most leader Lps in one year?

And a side-note - who was the most prolific Blue Note artist in terms of recording the most Lps in one year, at the peak of his popularity [or faith in such by Alfred Lion]?

Everyone's favorite trumpter, Wynton Marsalis, recorded eight cds in 1999:

1999 Standard Time, Vol. 4: Marsalis Plays Monk

1999 At the Octoroon Balls: String Quartet No. 1

1999 Fiddler's Tale

1999 Big Train

1999 Sweet Release and Ghost Story

1999 Standard Time, Vol. 6:

1999 Reeltime

1999 The Marciac Suite

Billy Higgins was the drummer on eleven BN albums recordings in 1965. Might be hard to beat.

Felser, BN did not release 13 Jimmy Smith in a single year. They recorded a lot of sessions which came out several years after they were taped. BN was careful not to overflow the market with new albums by artists they had contracts with.

It's either Oscar Peterson or Jimmy Smith depending on how you count.

In 1959 alone O.P. recorded the following 13 albums:

A Jazz Portrait of Frank Sinatra

The Jazz Soul of Oscar Peterson

Plays the Duke Ellington Song Book

Plays the George Gershwin Song Book

Plays the Richard Rodgers Song Book

Plays the Jerome Kern Song Book

Plays the Cole Porter Song Book

Plays the Harry Warren Song Book

Plays the Irving Berlin Song Book

Plays the Harold Arlen Song Book

Plays the Jimmy McHugh Song Book

Plays Porgy and Bess

Swinging Brass with the Oscar Peterson Trio

If you include co-leader sessions you get 15:

Sonny Stitt Sits In with the Oscar Peterson Trio

Ben Webster Meets Oscar Peterson

At The Organ, Volume 1

At The Organ, Volume 2

The Sounds Of Jimmy Smith

Plays Pretty Just For You

Cherokee

Groovin’ At Smalls’ Paradise, Volume 1

Groovin’ At Smalls’ Paradise, Volume 2

Groovin’ At Smalls’ Paradise, Volume 3 (not released, I know, but enough material was recorded for a third album)

Lonesome Road

House Party (2 of 3 tracks)

Confirmation (2 of 3 tracks)

The Sermon! (1 of 3 tracks)

On The Sunny Side (1 of 8 tracks)
