Dmitry Posted August 20, 2006 Report Share Posted August 20, 2006 (edited) I was cataloguing Grant Green's cds and Lps I have into the music database and noticed I had 6 separate titles plus the Green & Clark / The Complete Quartets 2cd set, all recorded in 1961. That's a lot of music for one year! I am sure Green is not even close to being at the top of the list, so who in your estimation has recorded the most leader Lps in one year? And a side-note - who was the most prolific Blue Note artist in terms of recording the most Lps in one year, at the peak of his popularity [or faith in such by Alfred Lion]? Billy Higgins was the drummer on eleven BN albums recordings in 1965. Might be hard to beat. Felser, BN did not release 13 Jimmy Smith in a single year. They recorded a lot of sessions which came out several years after they were taped. BN was careful not to overflow the market with new albums by artists they had contracts with.
