sjarrell Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Hiroshi reports that the latest reissue of this has the overdubbed drums of Larry Bunker. I hate Dick Bock more every day. Anyone heard it? It appears to have the lost tracks. But with drums. Quote
Larry Kart Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 F--- me. And I used to have the original LP too. How and why it went away, I don't recall, though I do recall that album and jacket were not in great shape. Quote
Tony Pusey Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Yeah, my copy arrived last week. I think it sounds great! But, caveat emptor-this is my first exposure to this music, and I didnt know there was aproblem with over dubbing. Quote
Tony Pusey Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 Umm, I played it today while eating breakfast on the balcony, but I dont hear no drums! and no reference to Bunker in the liners as far as I can see Quote

Ken Dryden Posted August 13, 2006 Report Posted August 13, 2006 Looks like they were able to either locate the missing original masters that Blue Note failed to find for the American CD, restoring the solos of Red Mitchell and Carl Perkins. By the way, Hall told me that the US CD listed two takes of "Things Ain't What They Used to Be," but the track labeled as alternate take was, in fact, the unedited master, while the other was the edited version. Ken Dryden Posted August 13, 2006 Report Posted August 13, 2006 (edited) At first glance, it looks like they were able to either locate the missing original masters that Blue Note failed to find for the American CD, restoring the solos of Red Mitchell and Carl Perkins. By the way, Hall told me that the US CD listed two takes of "Things Ain't What They Used to Be," but the track labeled as alternate take was, in fact, the unedited master, while the other was the edited version. But the additional track "Too Close For Comfort," added to the US reissue from an earlier PJ LP anthology, is not on this Japanese reissue. Oh, well...
