Hey Gang,

This might sound a little stupid but here goes...

How can I convert Windows Media Audio files (.wma) to Wave (.wav) and/or MP3 files. Do I need any special software and what??

Have been trying to convert on an XP computer and it has not worked so far. :(

On a related topic, does anyone know how I can convert .flac files to anything mp3-like I can use?

Goldwave also takes flac files and extracts them into wav files and those can be saved to mp3. I don't know about direct conversion.

unflac the flacs using the usual software to get wav files and encode those to mp3 using your favourite mp3 encoder. I don't know which one Goldwave uses, it may be Fraunhofer; LAME is better.

mp3 pro , which i got from nero several years ago, makes 80k files sound better than 128k, but you cant decode files bigger than 2 gig(about 3 hours of a radio broadcast) as far as i know.

Go to Goldwave.com and download the free version of their software. You can open windows media files and save them as wav or MP3 (up to 320 KBPS).

Will this work on DRM protected .wma?
