Son-of-a-Weizen Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Flipped though one of the July issues of the New Yorker today and the #1 all time selling Rock/Pop album is ___________________________. Don't Google.......don't grab the New Yorker and peek.........just take a stab at it. Quote
Jim R Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 I want to guess, but... I don't care enough. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 I think it used to be Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon", but today, it's probably a Britney Spears CD. Quote
Noj Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 It's probably one of those glorified karaoke singers from American Idol. Quote
mgraham333 Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 If it's not Michael Jackson's Thriller what was their source? Quote
RDK Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 If it's not Michael Jackson's Thriller what was their source? That's the usual culprit... Quote
BERIGAN Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Is it one of those Garth Brooks box sets that each cd was counted as a separate sale??? Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted July 13, 2006 Author Report Posted July 13, 2006 Eagles Greatest Hits? Yep, so they say. "The most popular album of all time is the Eagles' "Greatest Hits, 1971-1975," which has sold about twenty-nine million copies in the United States since it's release, in 1976. The No. 2 album is Jackson's "Thriller," which has sold twenty-seven million copies since 1982. Next on the list are albums by Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, and Billy Joel." Quote
BERIGAN Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Probably this one.....at least is should be... Quote
Adam Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Yeah, the Eagles album passed Thriller 4 or 5 years ago. It just keeps selling, I guess. Quote
Free For All Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 By the way Berigan, I like your Jack Black High Fidelity signature a lot more than that damn distracting ship! Quote

Son-of-a-Weizen Posted July 13, 2006 Author Report Posted July 13, 2006 What? The New Yorker lied? See, I start subscribing to C. Albertson's favorite mag and immediately get burned! Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Shit, I see there is one on my shelves and I don't know how it got there. Must be a promo. Quote

Besides, I dig the fact that they acknowledge that sales figures are fuzzy numbers at best. Rather see > 30M than something silly like 31,287,081 copies sold worldwide (not counting 1827 promo copies). Quote
BERIGAN Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 By the way Berigan, I like your Jack Black High Fidelity signature a lot more than that damn distracting ship! Perhaps I can find a way to have the ship pass from Jack's right to the left, and please no one! Quote
