RDK Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Yeah, but buying CDs on sale means there's more money left for other things! Quote

Ken Dryden Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 How many members of this thread have gone broke saving money at the Fantasy blowout sale? Quote

garthsj Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 There is a famous strip from Dagwood from the late 1940's that could apply in this situation: Blondie comes home loaded with packages and all excited she tells Dagwood that she has just saved $10! He, pleased, asks her how she did it, and she tells him that she just bought this $20 dress for $10 at a sale .... Don't try this at home ... Being a single, "mature" individual, in charge of his own purchasing decisions, I NEVER have to listen to that dreaded phrase from the lips of anyone, "DO YOU REALLY NEED ANOTHER CD?" Now ... the only problem is when to find the time to listen to allof this stuff. By last count, I was 92 CDs behind in my listening, thanks in large part to the sale offered by our German friends Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. (I think I got the message.) Quote
Dave James Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. I don't need any more. (I think I got the message.) Did I miss something? Was there as message here? That Blondie rationalization is timeless. If I had a nickel for every time my S.O. told me she'd saved money by buying things on sale (most likely things she would not have bought otherwise) I could have retired five years ago. Up over and out. Quote
Stefan Wood Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 What would be a back breaker is if Concord decides to put another slate of 300+ cds on sale......... Quote
T.D. Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 What would be a back breaker is if Concord decides to put another slate of 300+ cds on sale......... True. But in light of the apparently overwhelming response to this sale, I wouldn't be surprised if the next sale went out at somewhat higher price points... Quote
robviti Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 sounds like i could make a killing with you guys right about now. Announcing the latest in a series of successful 12-step groups: J.A. "Hi, I'm Rob, and I'm a jazzaholic." Quote

But in light of the apparently overwhelming response to this sale, I wouldn't be surprised if the next sale went out at somewhat higher price points... Perhaps, but if what they are trying to do is move out inventory and discontinued items they may have hit a homerun by selling them straight to the public. Maybe Chuck would tell us what they could expect to get unloading the same type of stuff through their retail channels. My guess is about the same if not less. Quote
bertrand Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 I still think a bunch of these will show up at Barnes And Noble. I think Stefan may have the right idea ... there will be one or more batches to come. Fortunately, I ordered 'only' 18. Bertrand. Quote
