BeBop
I enjoy both Evans and Hawes. But let's be real here. I LIKE Evans, but DIG Hawes. No offense, but I can't look at Evans and see "DIG". Like? Love? Cherish? Enjoy? Sure. He swings. Hawes? LIKE? He seems like a likeable enough guy. Having read his autobio, I'm not convinced he'd LIKE me. Maybe. "Mr. Hawes, I sure like your music" Nah. "Dig! Hamp Hawes!"
Big Al
How is it that everybody loves Raymond but everybody hates Chris? Now THAT seems backwards! Chris is a hip young dude, Raymond is a whiny punk.

fasstrack
I enjoy both Evans and Hawes. But let's be real here. I LIKE Evans, but DIG Hawes. No offense, but I can't look at Evans and see "DIG". Like? Love? Cherish? Enjoy? Sure. He swings. Hawes? LIKE? He seems like a likeable enough guy. Having read his autobio, I'm not convinced he'd LIKE me. Maybe. "Mr. Hawes, I sure like your music" Nah. "Dig! Hamp Hawes!" Mr. Apple, meet Mr. Orange. Viva la difference..... I particularly enjoy Hamp's duet w/Charlie Haden from around '76: As Long as There's Music. I love all his stuff, though. Swung his balls off, creativity to burn (literally), sure knew the blues, and didn't stay married to the past but kept listening and absorbing. I've long loved Evans but have lately fallen out of love or at least the mood. I'm sure I'll get in it again. He was beauty itself and raised the bar on so many levels and not just for pianists. Jim R
I was never very crazy about either of those cover ideas. Anyway, I tend to agree with the thread premise.
RDK
So who wants to do up a cover graphic for "Everybody Hates Kenny G."?

Chuck Nessa
This isn't gonna be a black junkie vs a white junkie thread, is it? I prefer Bud, Elmo, Randy, Duke (jordan), Al, and a few others to these two.
