Harold_Z Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 (edited) This is terrific! Pops in a variety of settings with a lot of greats. Trummy, Jack Teagarden, Ruby Braff, Tony Parenti, Lou McGarrity, Bud Freeman, Cutty Cutshall........all of them are here. Anybody know who the drummer is with what is billed as the Bobcats, but looks more like the Lawson-Haggart Jazz Band? I have to get that Satchmo The Great DVD Lon posted. Hot Ptah Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 If it wasn't for Louis, it is doubtful that we would be here together on this board in 2006. Quote
jazzbo Posted August 4, 2008 Author Report Posted August 4, 2008 Long Live the King! Happy Birtday Maestro! Quote
bruce talbot Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 Been listening to Louis for more than 50 years and still finding new and enthralling stuff there. Currently knocked out by his playing with Henderson in 24 and 25. Like Prez he just seemed to have arrived, fully formed. In addition, on those same records it's fascinating to witness Hawk's evolution.... Quote
mjzee Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Absolutely! I toast him with a glass of Swiss Kriss! Happy birthday, Satch! Quote
