OMG THAT WOULD BE SO KICKASS! ESPECIALLY IF YOU WOKE UP A ZOMBIE HANK MOBLEY AND HE CAME BURSTING UP OUT OF HIS GRAVE AND ATE YOUR BRAIN. HE MIGHT NEED SOMETHING ELSE TO EAT AFTER THAT, THOUGH...

Chuck,

I've always wondered about Hank's stay in Chicago. The liner notes to one of the Blue Notes even mention some compositions that Muhal's group would have played. I've never found any copyrights after The Flip, however.

Do you remember what type of repertoire they played on those gigs? Standards or Mobley originals?

Thanks,

Bertrand.

I suggest you PM John Litweiler. He did a piece on Hank for DB at the time and knows better than I.

hank is killin me right now! im listening to the complete 50s sessions in reverse order.

Are you playing the discs backwards? Are you playing them forward but have your back to the stereo? Did you insert them upside down into the player? Do you realize that EMIT 'NIKCEP is Peckin' Time backwards?

Open the pod bay doors Hal.....

I listened to Hank this morning--on Art Blakey's Meet You at the Jazz Corner of the World vol. 1, Liberty era (blue label) LP (but with RVG in wax)--it sounded mighty good, Hank included, though I was more enthralled by Lee Morgan on this one.
