allblues Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 Haven't seen this posted. If it has been, sorry for the duplication. New batch of Prestige RVGs scheduled for July 18: Thelonious Monk/Sonny Rollins - Thelonious Monk and Sonny Rollins (P7075, rec. 1953, 1954) Mose Allison - Mose Allison Sings (P7279, rec. 1957-1959) Oliver Nelson - Screamin' The Blues (NJ 8324 , rec. 1960) Yusef Lateef - Eastern Sounds (P7319, rec. 1961) Groove Holmes - Soul Message (P7435, rec. 1965) Quote
mikeweil Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 Thelonious Monk/Sonny Rollins - Thelonious Monk and Sonny Rollins (P7075, rec. 1953, 1954) Hate to see the scattered release pattern of the Monk Prestige session perpetuated: These sessions cry out for completion. The original LPs are short, and none has a complete session. I stick to the Monk box - and even there they didn't manage to establish recording order ..... Quote

If you are bitching about the track order within sessions I suggest you get over it. The sound is great, it's all there, the program works and YOU can program the sequence as you please. Quote

The Coltrane and Garland sessions cry out for reordering-"The Lush Life" session is a good example. Quote
