mikeweil Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 Is there any issue with the complete session including alternate takes on one CD of the Dicky Wells Signature session with Lester Young? The Chronological Classics have only the master takes, I suppose, the Blue Moon have the alternates on a separate disc. As I have almost all the other Prez small group recording I would like to avoid duplicating. Same goes for Coleman Hawkins' Signature session. Any help is greatly appreciated! Quote
P.D. Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 I don't think there is an American CD that has it all.. there were two ' Three Tenor" CDs on Flying Dutchman (?) that I think would have all the Hawk and Pres plus some Webster. The Pres set which was actually under Wells name is complete, with alternates, on the Masters of Jazz Cd.. Lester Young vol 3 1943 but unfortunately for us MOJ gave up the ghost and is no more Quote
EKE BBB Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 For only alternates, try NEATWORK label: LESTER YOUNG : VOL.1 - THE ALTERNATIVE TAKES - (1939-1947) : NEATWORK COLEMAN HAWKINS : VOL.1 - THE ALTERNATIVE TAKES - (1935-1943) : NEATWORK COLEMAN HAWKINS : VOL.2 - THE ALTERNATIVE TAKES - (1943-1944 + MORE FROM 1940) : NEATWORK COLEMAN HAWKINS : VOL.3 - THE ALTERNATIVE TAKES - (1944-1949) : NEATWORK Quote
